Is having a hormonal high schooler behind the wheel honestly the best idea? Driving is a big responsibility, which needs to be taken seriously. Having young teens driving around carelessly can not only put them in danger, but those around them. Most teens would be against the idea of raising the driving age to 18. After all, being able to drive without having to depend on others creates freedom for young adults. Even so, is it truly worth risking the teens’ well being? Or is it preferable to just wait a little longer? Teens should receive their license at the age of 18 because it is safer and these young adults are more mature

Although most 16-year olds feel ready to take on the responsibility of driving, raising the driving age to 18 would assure drivers are more mature and would create a safer driving environment. In the end, older drivers with more experience are more likely to make better choices behind the wheel. These young adults can make responsible and educated decisions while driving, all while focusing on the things that happen in their surroundings. Adolescent drivers are more likely to get distracted, creating havoc and putting the minor in potentially dangerous situations. These young drivers also face the possibility of having to deal with peer pressure, which can affect their driving. All things considered, is it honestly that important to look “cool” in front of friends when having young drivers on the road is jeopardizing driving as a whole?
