2015 Mustang Ad Analysis

Do you remember your first car? Well, most of us do. Imagine it is a 1966 Mustang that would be a fantastic car for many people to have. This 2015 Mustang ad follows the life of this boy and his mustang. It goes from him and his dad trying to get it started to him finishing it and selling it to play for a ring to propose to his wife. Then his wife sees how much he misses the car and decides to buy him a brand new one. This ad has a very emotional appeal feeling to pull at the heartstrings of the watcher.  

This 2015 Mustang ad starts with a bit of boy painting while his father is fixing his 1966 Mustang. His father then asks the boy if he wants to help work on the car. The boy happily agrees while the father hands him a tool. The camera pans to the boy’s painting, and it is the red mustang that the boy was painting. Then it cuts to the boy who is in his pre-teen years sitting in the driver's seat trying to start the car with no success. It cuts to the girl tapping the boy on the shoulder and introducing herself while he is alone working on the vehicle. Then the camera pans to a girl walking her dog; as he looks at her, they lock eyes, and both blush, the father looks over to the boy and gives him a chuckle. 

Then the ad cuts to when the car finally starts for the first time, and the boy is much older now, about the age of 16. The son and father hug in joy because all their hard work in this car finally paid off. The boy hops into the car and drives it over to the girl's house, which they are now dating. She is also excited that the car is finally done, and they take a drive in it. The camera cuts to the boy in his early 30s, looking somber, holding a sale sign, and giving the keys to a new owner. This scene has a lot of emotion because the boy has spent many years working on this car, and he’s selling it. 

It cut’s to the wife walking in and noticing that the car is gone and the man staring at a picture of him, his dad, and the vehicle. The woman asks the man what happened to the car as he says he sold it. The man gets down on one knee and proposes to his wife; he sells the vehicle to marry his long-time lover. It then cuts to the wife walking into the garage while the man is starting to work on a painting, then she closes the door. It cuts to her opening it again, and she sees that he is painting the old car that he loved so much. She smiles and shuts the door as soon as he finishes the painting. The garage door opens, and he sees a shiny red 2015 ford mustang for their anniversary. They hug, then they drive away in the brand new car. 

This ad follows a boy and his car for his whole life from when he first started working on it, finally starting for the first time, selling it to marry his lover, and eventually his wife buying him a brand new mustang. This ad is very emotional-based and tugs at the heartstring of the watcher, going from ups to downs to back up. This ad is heartwarming and tries to convince people to buy a ford.
