For this project, I have chosen the event 9/11 to research and portray to you in this academic paper. The major event of 9/11 was the one of the most notorious events in known american history. The event consisted of two hijacked planes, that crashed into the twin towers and ultimately caused them to collapse. The ones who hijacked these planes were a terrorist group named al Qaeda, and their leader was a man named Osama Bin Laden. The event caused major catastrophe across the United States, and will not be forgotten in american history.

I have interviewed a person who has lived through this event and its experiences, who I will now portray their perspective. In accordance with the interviewee, his perspective consisted of the many troubles that he faced alongside the nation. In the interview, he talked about the financials and economics issues that occurred for the nation. These problems mostly consisted of the stock markets crashing very heavily, and price gauging on items such as gasoline was increased to approximately 7 - 10 USD per gallon. The interviewed has stated his opinions over what he believes about terrorism. His statements include his distaste for the terrorist group, as do many other americans, in which he discussed their religion, which is a primary factor in why they caused this event. He also included details over what the nation has most likely felt in response to the event which he has stated as “Many people thought that considering that the U.S was the strongest country in the world, it woke up americans to realize that we can be attacked easily, and thats security is stronger then its ever been.”

Into the point of academic sources, I have researched the primary points that happened over the course of 9/11, and its wavering effect. During 1996, Osama Bin Laden declared jihad (Holy War) against the U.S. Osama Bin Laden said “Expel the Polytheists from the Arabian peninsula” to many muslims over the world, and particularly those in the arabian peninsula, and this was starting point of 9/11’s causation. Osama Bin Laden has discussed the topic further, stating “First, for over seven years the United States has been occupying the lands of Islam in the holiest of places, the Arabian Peninsula, plundering its riches, dictating to its rulers, humiliating its people, terrorizing its neighbors, and turning its bases in the Peninsula into a spearhead through which to fight the neighboring Muslim peoples.”, which would show another reason that Osama Bin Laden and his followers would do this, as in their mind, they are deeply and truly effected by the U.S. This would end in the destruction of the twin towers, as during the day of 9/11, the major event occured. George W. Bush would give many three speeches this day, those of which would address the nation and give his remarks over the future action the U.S. One month after 9/11 occured in 2001, military strikes were ordered on Afghanistan, and the U.S planned to further anti-terrorist security. This led to the creation of the USA Patriot Act, which discusses many topics, but the main idea of the act is to increase national security against terrorism, and do practically anything to ensure that the safety of the U.S is guranteed.
