Did you know there are obstacles people might face in the dental field? The future of dentistry will provide job opportunities, obstacles, and opportunities in the dental field. 

What is the dental field? According to the website, “Balancecareers.com”, “the field of dentistry is concerned with the health and appearance of the oral cavity which includes the teeth, gums, and tongue as well as the jaw.” If you want to be in the dental field you can help people preserve their health by educating them. People in the dental field help improve the lives of others when working in dental offices. Finally, this is why people should be in the dental field because you get to help others and this would be a good field to enter.

What are the job opportunities and outlook of the dental field? Research shows that there are a lot of job opportunities in the dental field. The job opportunities are the dental assistant, dental hygienist, dental laboratory tech, general dentist, orthodontist, periodontist, and lastly oral maxillofacial surgeon. A dental assistant is someone who provides patient care, x-rays, keeps track of records and makes appointments for patients, and lastly billing and payments. You might even see a dental assistant sterilize dental instruments and work on the side chair to help the dental hygienist. A dental hygienist is someone who examines patients for any signs of diseases such as gingivitis. They also teach people about oral hygiene and provide care to their patients. Similar to the dental assistant, the dental assistant also takes x-rays. They also apply fluoride to the teeth and they use tools for the teeth as well.  A Dental Laboratory Tech is someone who repairs medical appliances or constructs devices for the teeth. A general dentist is similar to a dental hygienist but the difference is that it is a family dentist who is part of the dental procedures for all ages. A general dentist is like a family dentist. An orthodontist is someone who does braces and more than braces. They can reposition jaws and they also have treatment options. A periodontist is someone who gives dental implants and someone who performs procedures for dental disease. Lastly, an oral and maxillofacial surgeon is someone who does surgery on the mouth, teeth, jaw, and face. They also perform wisdom teeth surgery. They also fix jaws and facial pain. These are all of the dental field job opportunities you can choose from. Did you know that there will be a growth rate for the dental industry in later years? Do you know what job opportunities will look like in the future? The job outlook or growth rate for the dental industry for jobs is to grow by 8%. It isn't a high number compared to other fields like the nursing fields or the military fields. All the occupations in the dentistry field will grow at the rate of 8% from 2020 to 2030.  Did you know that there will be more job opportunities in the future for the dental field? Well, in the year 2020 to 2030, there will be 5,000 more job openings each year. Another job opportunity is that robots might take over the dental field. They might replace the jobs that humans already have. If this happens we can have fewer job openings for people to work. Finally, this is why people should be in the dental field because of all the job opportunities you can do. Although, in the future, if we do end up having robots replacing human jobs then we would have fewer job opportunities and maybe people should not work in the dental field. 

Are there any obstacles people might face in the dental field? Are there any opportunities in being in the dental field? One of the obstacles that doctors in the dental field might face is the covid-19 virus. Dental people often face people who might have covid-1 and it can be transmittable to the dentist. You could be exposed to covid. Another obstacle is you have to now wear protective gear when dealing with your patients. Another obstacle that dental people might face is student loan debt. Studies show that students who come out of a 4-year university or a dental school might have a lot of student loan debt. If you go to a community college or trade school you might come out of school with less debt. A third obstacle that people might face is physical and mental issues. Dental workers are constantly standing up and or sitting down. Studies show that dental people might have back issues, shoulder issues, or leg issues. WIth mental issues, studies show that dentist people might be depressed sometimes because they have to deal with schedules and patients. People might be difficult, making it hard for the dentist as well. A fourth and last issue is that dental people are at risk for HIV, Hepatitis B, M. Tuberculosis which can be very contagious. There are more opportunities than obstacles. The opportunities of being in the dental field are meeting new people. Another opportunity of being in the dental field is educating people on their teeth and making a person have good self-esteem about their smile. A third opportunity of being in the dental field is there are multiple jobs you can choose from in the dental field. A fourth opportunity of being in the dental field is right after college you can start your own practice. A fifth opportunity of being in the dental field is you have competitive pay and a good salary. A sixth opportunity of being in the dental field is you get to be involved with the community and competing with other dentists. Lastly, competing with other dentists might higher your self-esteem of being in the dental field. The opportunity of being in the dental field rules out the obstacles. These are all the obstacles and opportunities of being in the dental field. That is why this is a good field to enter. 

This is a good job that people should go to college for. This would be a good field to work in because of all the job opportunities and the job outlooks. We should have a lot of dentist people to inform people about their health. But, on one’s side, a person would not want to be in the dental field because of the obstacles they might face like physical obstacles and mental issues. Also, others might work in the dental field because of the opportunities like educating people or meeting new people, and being involved with the community. For this reason, this is why you should be in the dental field.
