Advanced Technology in War of the Worlds

Because H.G. Wells was a man of science, what he suggested about advanced technology, from “War of the Worlds”, is a valid point. First, on how it could take over faster because the other technology is not as powerful as the advanced technology. Second, it could be dangerous if it got in the wrong hands because if terrorists got a hold of the technology they could take over and it would be hard for even the most powerful militaries to hold them at stake. Third, it could also be an advantage, if Martians or aliens came to take over it could be an advantage because if we had more advanced technology it would be easier for the government to stop the Martians from taking over.

Advanced technology that the Martians used helped them to be able to take over much faster than the technology we use today would be able to. The Martian with their technology like the heat ray, which turns anything in its way turns it to ash, the black smoke took the people’s, (who got caught in the black smoke), ability to live, because you could not touch or breathe it. Was able to help them take over so fast, even the strongest military stood no chance against their weapons. “It is impossible to stop them. There is no safety from the black smoke”. Book:1 Ch:14 pg:80 H.G Wells. If you have the more advanced technology you are almost impossible to stop. With the advanced technology the Martians used also made it so they could survive their advanced weapons. 

If the advanced technology got in the wrong hands it would be chaotic for that government and other governments. In the book it does not get in the wrong hands, it was already in the wrong hands. It was chaotic for Great Britain when the Martians started fighting and it was impossible for Great Britain to stop the Martian’s invasion. “It’s bows and arrows against the lightning”. Book:1 Chapter:12 Page:63 H.G. Wells. Sense the advanced technology was already in the wrong hands. It was like the Indians with bows and arrows against the colonists with guns and bullets. In both of those scenarios it did not end well for the people with the lesser weapons. With the more advanced weapons in the wrong hands, just like in those scenarios, the people with the more advanced weaponry won.  

Advanced technology and weaponry would also be an advantage, It could be an advantage for you or your enemies. In the book it was an advantage for the enemies with the advantage the Martians were able to take over Great Britain so easily. “This isn’t a war, said the artilleryman. It never was a war, any more than there’s war between man and ants.” Book:2 Chapter:7 Page:4 H.G. Wells. With the war between the Martians and Great Britain It was like a war between David and Goliath except in this scenario it took a while for “David” to come out on top and beat “Goliath” . With the advantage it seems impossible for the people without the advantage to win the fight. Almost anyone would choose the person with the advantage’s side, because everyone wants to be on the winning side.
