“Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness,” just one of the many quotes that portray the American Dream. Most people are often taught at a young age the ‘wrong idea’ of what it really is, and fail to attain their own happiness in the process. The American Dream is still achievable though, thanks to the equal opportunity and chances people are inclined with despite their ethic or economical background.

Coming from nothing and building a foundation is possible, but only to those who are willing to work for it. In the video “Life Story - Dr. Alfredo Quiñones-Hinojosa.”:

We didn’t have much and I went to this area of California and I begged for a job until someone actually hired me to do the most menial type of work… I would probably say that it was probably one of the most formative and magical times in my life. What I remember is learning the most extraordinary work and how they handed their passion in how thankful they were to the United States for giving them a job (Dr Q.)…

Dr Q. grew up with nothing but economic struggles, but was grateful for even the little he got. By staying positive and humble, he was able to manifest a greater future for himself. Due to this, Dr. Q was able to leave a rough patch in his life behind and become a well known neurosurgeon through his passion of always striving for better. His story proves that despite the financial inequalities that anyone faces, anyone’s American Dream is attainable to their own extent of how they want to be distinguished in society.

As the U.S. evolves more and more each day, many opportunities arise and support systems are everywhere. Maintaining a stable relationship with a support system may guide those with an optimistic mindset to success, despite whatever hardships they face. In the video titled “A Michigan Judge Gave a Drug Dealer a Life Changing Second”, it states “I see my job as trying to provide opportunities for people that come in front of me to reintegrate then back into society and make them, assist them, in trying to be everything they want to be” (Judge Morrow). Morrow willingly took matters into his own hands to support Martell in improving his life day by day in order for him to attain his version of the dream. The slightest bit of support can help keep your goals in perspective, and provide a sense of direction when you feel lost or deceived.

Attaining the American Dream isn’t easy, but it is definitely possible to those who are willing to risk everything for it, despite any social or financial drawbacks they may face. With an optimistic mindset and a passion for greatness, you will be able to achieve the best version of your own American Dream.
