We have all heard the story of “Little Red Riding Hood” a very well-known fairy tale that we all grew up with. Little Red Riding hood has two known versions one by Charles Perrault and the well-known story by The Brothers Grimm. The version we will be talking about today is by The Brothers Grimm. Red Riding Hood in the 17th century in Europe and is of European origin. Little Red Riding Hood shows the importance of Theme and Imagery in the story.

Little Red Riding Hood is a classic story of a girl who goes into the woods to give her grandmother food, but the wolf beat her to it. But nobody talks about the theme of the book. The theme of the book is always to be wary of strangers, a lesson all of us were taught at an early age. In the story when her mother told her to go straight to grandma’s house, she ran into the wolf who stopped her. “When Little Red Riding Hood entered the woods, a wolf came up to her. She did not know what a wicked animal he was and was not afraid of him. „Good day to you, Little Red Riding Hood. “– „Thank you, wolf. “– „Where are you going so early, Little Red Riding Hood? “– „To grandmothers.” This quote here explains that Red Riding Hood was questioning the animal that came towards her. Going back to the theme of “always be wary of strangers” which is a particularly important lesson Red Riding Hood has shown throughout the

Imagery is an especially essential element in Red Riding Hood because the story has a lot of different types of imagery. Many would think that the main element is setting or theme, but the imagery is the most important type of element in this story. There are many types of imagery but what we are going to talk about is visual imagery which relies on the eyes to be able to get what the story is trying to get you to visualize. In this quote “Little Red Riding Hood opened her eyes and saw the sunlight breaking through the trees and how the ground was covered with beautiful flowers. She thought: "If a take a bouquet to grandmother, she will be very pleased” it shows how the visual imagery can be very descriptive and how it paints a picture for the readers.

Red Riding Hood is a classic story that almost everyone is familiar with. It’s a very old and still relevant story today about “being wary of strangers” since today’s world is very dangerous and very unpredictable. One thing I do know is that this story will live on to the future generations and beyond Red Riding Hood’s theme and impact will forever be remember, the story may be old and be set in the olden times but it’s still very relevant today.
