Analysis of National Anthem of Australia

Without a doubt, I believe that the National Anthem of Australia is an exceptional example of quality poetry. The National Anthem of Australia has a major significance in Australia’s history, not only the history but the present furthermore the future. Recently we have changed one line of our anthem so we can be more inclusive of the indigenous.

To create a great quality poem you need to include several components, which I will run through as evidence. Peter Dodds McCormick has included all of these elements I will state. Rhyming- he has applied the rhyme technique outstandingly well. Rhythm-  the consistency of his rhythmic flow is persistent and is on point. Assonance-  Peter McCormick has included the perfect amount of assonance which helps to enhance his quality. All of this helps to add up to a great presentation of expressing Australian culture.

In every poem structure is key, without the correct structure, your poem will not only be incomprehensible but won’t be classified as a poem. For each line, you should have a certain amount of syllables plus patterns. The Advance Australia fair has the pattern of 8,6,8,6 etcetera. We also must include the stanzas, In total, we have 4 verses which also equals 4 stanzas. They all continue the cycle of 8,6,8,6. 

Quality poetry needs to include emotion also effort. In the Australian National Anthem, we observe this quite a lot. It has a major amount of meaning. Like recently we have changed young to one so we can be more inclusive of everyone, this shows how much thought plus meaning the National Anthem has. Mr McCormick has put a significant amount of effort, which should be appreciated. The detail is exceptional and we shall all look up to create a great poem like this one.
