Imagine being a mom with two kids. You could never afford furthering your education, so she always had to take any job available. With two kids $7.25 an hour is not enough. Some moms are only living paycheck to paycheck, barely affording minimum wage. How does the government expect people to live a prosperous life at $7.25 an hour? For multiple reasons, Minimum wage needs to be raised to $15 an hour. Because current minimum wage hours do not support the cost of living, it is important that we raise U.S minimum wage by $15 an hour. Snap benefits is an excellent tool for people who are struggling with minimum wage and meet below the income level.  

Minimum wage is a critical issue in today’s economy that affects 27 million people in the world. Minimum Wage: CQR (cqpress.com)   (Katel 44). says “the federal minimum wage has not changed since 1997.Since then Minimum wage earners have lost 17 percent of their purchasing power to inflation.’’ Raising the Minimum wage would cause minimal job loss while putting money into the hands of low wage workers who would spend it, boosting the economy. It would lift Americans out of poverty especially middle-class teens earning pocket money. 

Increasing minimum wage would help fuel economic growth. This will put families out of poverty and be able to support their families with food, clothes, and housing. Some of these families will even go to food pantries because they make little to get by with. On the other hand, some will turn to HUD for housing aid to get help with the rent on their house.  

It would reduce hiring and training cost if we raised minimum wage. Multiply that by the employee turnover in your organization and there is considerable scope to reinvest savings into improving your base pay offer.’’ For instance, the more people get paid from minimum wage there going to want to stay at that job and this will reduce training costs. To reduce training costs some businesses will even reduce cutting staff or decreasing the amount of training. It binds the employers to pay their workers the minimum wage fixed under their act from time to time.  

Although minimum wage sounds ideal, there are many Americans who believe it should be increased. They believe an increase in minimum wage would hurt businesses and force companies to close. Some also say increasing the minimum wage would force businesses to lay off employees and raise unemployment levels. One final argument Americans make is raising minimum wage will increase poverty. Overall, raising the Minium wage supplies many benefits for the American people and should be invested into.

After the enactment, the hourly minimum wage for most non-farm workers covered under the act is $1.75 then to $1.85.’’  Most Americans believe that minimum wage should be increased. One reason is that it would help Americans improve standard living which will put a lot of families out of poverty. An increase in minimum wage would put more dollars in the pockets of millions of workers. Employers who stay with a business longer could receive help from greater advancement and overall expense. It would help millions of Americans from a job-related relocation expense. 

In conclusion, Minimum wage should be raised for several reasons. Reducing poverty not only increases quality of life, but our country. Speaking of our country’s life, raising the minimum wage would also increase the country’s economic growth. Increasing minimum wage would only do more for our country, but for less, by reducing poverty cost by over $22,740 per person. As you can see, we have a lot to benefit from by increasing the minimum wage. I thank you for taking the time to address my proposal.
