Transformation stories are told to younger children for thousands of years, with the only purpose of keeping their children safe from predators… or to keep them from staying out past dinner. Common transformations that people see daily are in movies such as, twilight; people turning into vampires and wolves, or even people in Sci-Fi movies turning into bugs or aliens. Realistically people are most likely to see a transformation in a family or friends in their voice after they talk back or break something of theirs. In “Where is here” the author presents a man who finds his childhood home, however, when he is told to leave, he either avoids the question or makes an excuse to stay, or even to check something out.

Infrequently there is a sighting of a mysterious monster lurking in the wood, taking children, although parents advise children that there are “scary monsters” around. Why is that, primarily their children for protection. Repeatedly, in non-fiction films, there is a transformation in the main character, possibly physically, mentally, but primarily physically. Whenever we experience a transformation in a movie, it brings up an ancient urge that keeps us safe from danger. Hollywood movies that have utilized character’s transformation tend to be successful, “As Chippindale put it, ‘these were well-made films, but they also succeeded because they tapped such an ancient urge.’” This ancient urge releases dopamine which gives us a good sense of happiness, so when our brain experiences this it will do whatever to get that feeling back.

Irene and her brother live in a house together unmarried. He was going to get married but his fiance died on him. Their parents are wealthy so they moved in together and cleaned all day, until “they” came. The siblings had a boring life, the brother would clean and the sister would knit. In the first encounter with “them”, they just moved parts of the house like it was nothing, almost like it happened before. Although the second time was different, It started after half the house was taken over, they had next to sleep close to each other. They noticed something strange happening, they could hear themselves breathe and he could hear a voice from his sister’s dreams that sounded like a parrot. The brother one night went to grab a glass of water and heard them coming, they kept getting closer and closer. He grabbed Irene’s are and they ran, “I took Irene’s arm and forced her to run with me to the wrought-iron door, not wanting to look back” (24). The brother and sister have very calm personalities but, suddenly they get freaked out and start to run away.
