Application Letter: Flight Crew Scheduler

I am writing this letter to express my interest in the Flight Crew Scheduler opening with JetPro Pilots.

I have a deep passion for aviation and I’m that typical aviation lover that always turns my head upwards when I hear an airplane flying over. There’s something about the aviation industry that just amazes me – maybe it’s watching an aircraft take off or land and always thinking how amazing technology is that we as human cans pilot these massive machines.

While in college, I had to make a life changing decision on which route in aviation I wanted to take. After touring the United Airlines headquarters in Chicago as a college freshman, I thought that seeing all of the different departments operate a major U.S. airline was the most fascinating thing, but I still wasn’t sure if I was set on the airline route as that would require me to relocate. While training for my private pilots license out of Smith Field, I always loved the airport environment and all of the hustle and bustle. I took two airport management classes, and I fell in love with the airport side of aviation - the thought of being a gateway to the world for people made me feel as though I had a purpose.

During the past two and a half years with the Fort Wayne-Allen County Airport Authority, I have been promoted twice, serving as Operations Intern, Operations Specialist, and Customer Experience Supervisor (my current role). While I have loved working in the airport management side of aviation, I can’t help but feel as though I am missing part of that love I once had for aviation as my duties with my current position have drawn me away from the direct airport connection. 

My experience as a supervisor has allowed me to improve my leadership and communication skills, which I feel would make me a valuable asset to your team. Though my tenure with my current employer has been relatively short, I have built many relationships with our tenants in order to provide better customer service for passengers, rebuilt the Customer Service Agent department and Volunteer Host Program, and improved the Airport’s Customer Service Program through different in terminal events.
