Argumentative Essay: Abortion Should Be Illegal

Imagine you have a daughter, she gets pregnant and decides she wants an abortion. What would you think of her and that decision? Most parents would say how that is wrong and that they won’t support it. Well let me tell you how I agree with them. First of all, (if you didn’t) abortion is a medical procedure to end a pregnancy which needs to be illegal, in all states. This is because it has killed thousands of women each year, has left them with guilt and pain, and harms their health. 

To start of, abortion needs to be illegal, in all states because thousands of women have died each year from it. According to an I article I read, it said that abortion was the definition of “evil” because it had killed 5 to 10 thousand of women each year. This shows how it needs to be illegal because it is clearly dangerous for women since they are dying. It makes it even worse how more than 1 thousand of women die from it every year, it would be different if it would be every 5 years, but every single year, that is clearly showing how abortions are getting out of hand. Not only that, but women don’t deserve this to happen to them, especially how most of them go into the clinic thinking it’s going to go normal but then they end up not waking up. 

Second of all, abortion should be illegal, in all states because it has left women with guilt and pain. According to an article I read, a women was telling her story and she said this, “my abortion was about ten years ago. To me it’s like a bad, bad nightmare, deep in the past. I still haven’t told anyone in my present life (my husband, my church friends, anyone I respect) about the abortion. I can’t. I know that they would see me differently, and I couldn’t stand that.” Another article also said how a recent study in Wales found how women’s suicide rate after abortions are 6 times higher than the normal because they feel guilty of what they did, so they decide to end their lifes. This clearly shows how abortion needs to be illegal because women don’t deserve this to happen to them. It is not fair for them to be treated badly for a decision they made for a reason.

Additionally, abortion needs to be illegal, in all states because it harms women’s health. According to an article I read, The National Cancer Institute in the U.S., sponsored a major study which showed a 36% increased risk of breast cancer among women who undergo abortions. Not only can they get breast cancer but they also have other health risks like uterine perforation, pelvic inflammation, and infertility problems. This all shows how it is necessary for abortion to be illegal since it’s causing so many many health issues. Also it is also most likely that women are getting abortions without knowing this, which is not fair for them at all. 

In conclusion, it is clear that abortion needs to be illegal, in all states because it has killed thousands of women each year, has left them with guilt and pain, and harms their health. That means that if we continue to proceed with abortions women are most likely going to continue to harm themselves due to the lack of safety and information. So, please we must ban abortions once in for all.
