Argumentative Essay Example: The American Revolution Was Justified

The American Revolution was a huge war that helped shape the country we are today and the war was justified. The amount of things that Britain did to them really just makes you think about what a horrible mother country England was. From the quartering act to the death of that 11-year-old boy there really are numerous amount of things England did to the colonies. They treated the colonies unfairly and were not seen as equal by the British. When the colonist rebelled and really just tried to defend themselves the British did these heinous acts towards them that just fired the colonist up more. These facts just brought more anger to the colonist that had to sit back and accept these heinous things England did to them The American revolution was rationalized and well deserved for England. They had it coming and got what they deserved. For these reasons is why the American revolution was justified and more than well earned. 

The chilly winter of March 5 of 1770 then turned into the great event known as the huge Boston Massacre. The Boston Massacre was a huge factor in why the war was rational. It all started as some simple taunting, cursing, and throwing snowballs at the British soldiers stationed there. But quickly order broke out and caused there to be shots fired by the British soldiers into the crowd, after the shooting ended, as a result, there were several wounded but there were more dead people than wounded. This event that killed many was one of the multiple events that added to the anti-British feelings already circling the colonies.  Their presence in Boston was already extremely unwelcome already and for them to go and do that just made it worse for them. Not to mention not too long before that when a customs informer shot into a crowd picketing the home of a customs paying merchant that then resulted in the killing of an eleven-year-old boy. So this happening helped the British dig themselves into a deeper hole. (Road Of Revolution Part 1 document 4) 

Another great thing passed down to America from The king of England King George the 3rd.  The Quartering Act basically required people of the town to give housing to the nearby officers and soldiers in barracks. If there weren’t enough barracks people would have to give up their homes to them. If giving them housing wasn't enough the people of the colonies also needed to provide food, alcohol, bedding, utensils, candles, and firewood. To sum it up not only do they have to give housing, they have to provide everything for them to live in their homes. That honestly is absurd to me; it is like bringing the enemy into your own house. Making the colonists pay for these people to live in their houses was an indirect way to pay for taxes; it didn't empower royal officials to collect money directly from the colonists but it obligated the colonists to raise a certain amount of money.  (Road to Revolution Part 1 document 5)    

Another reason why this war is completely justified is The Stamp act. The Stamp act was the second act released after the sugar act, this act basically put a tax on all legal documents including newspapers, wills, marriage licenses, diplomas, pamphlets, and playing cards. For obvious reasons, this caused a rush of anger over the colonists. The reason for the enraged colonists was not only the fact that they were getting taxed but also because they were being used to pay the debt of the 7 years war. Owing to the fact that George Grenville says that Britain protects America for free and that it runs Great Britain into an immense amount of debt because of the protection that is given to the colonies, therefore the stamp act is their way to get the money they need to cover their debts. Overall the American revolution was justified because of the horrid and tyrannical behaviors of King George III. The English think just because they helped and sent their people over there they can have just as much political power as the people who are actually there. Americans deserve just as much to govern their own country. But when the colonists refuse the British refuse and enforce these dreadful acts that make the colonists despise them even more than before. Therefore the war was reasonable and more than merited.
