In our lives we have encountered many strangers, whether in school, events, or even in public, but sometimes we meet people we connect with, people who seem to understand us, people who think like us. These people can eventually become your friends.

First of all, to start off, what are friends? Friends are people who we can depend on when things are tough, friends are always there for you when you need them, friends are the people who you connect with. People you make friends with can be anyone really, it can be your parents, siblings, cousins, aunts/uncles, grandparents, or even stranger. Having friends is an important part of life, it helps us become more sociable, and gain more self-esteem. Most people make friends in school / work, events, or even in public areas.

Now, we have talked about why friendship is important and what it is in general, but how do people keep their friendship tight as a knot? There are many ways to keep your friendship with someone intact, like to communicate, to care, or even to be honest with each other.  But, how can we follow each one of these steps? Communicating is an easy way of keeping friendship intact, since all you need to do is talk with them about everyday things or even bizarre things that happened to you. What about caring what does it mean? Well caring means to always have each other's backs whether in tough or easy times, which can sometimes be the hardest part of a friendship but it can make it all worth it by tightening your bond. The last one, being honest, means to always tell the truth whether you are in the wrong or right.

We talked about some ways to keep a friendship, but what if your friend doesn't follow them but you do, what does that mean, and what should you do? When you are the only one contributing in a friendship that means your friend is a fake one and you should dump them, here is why, first of all if they don't care about you the same way you do they can become toxic and try to push you away by destroying your self-esteem. This could lead to you thinking you are not good enough, even though you are, so if you feel like a friend is being mean to you confront them and if they retaliate in a negative way then just ignore them and unfriend them.

To sum up, we all need friends whether we believe we don't or we do, but it is important to take care of your friends the same way they do, and if they don't make the effort for you, then they aren't really real friends.
