Argumentative Essay Sample: Kingsport Is The Best Town To Live

Tennessee is home to a few large cities and a bunch smaller town. On the west side of the grand division you have the city of Memphis. In the middle of the state there is Nashville and to the east is Chattanooga. I live in a small town in the northeast section called Kingsport. Kingsport is the best town to live in because of the job opportunities, sports, and the geographical location.

The first reason Kingsport is the best place to live is the amount of job opportunities. Kingsport is the home for Eastman Chemical company. Every year there are multiple jobs opened throughout the plant. There are also two hospitals and two urgent cares in the city as well. We have a lot of small, local owned businesses and medical centers willing to hire those ready to work. Many factories are in the area and looking for possible employees. If you’re a teacher, there are two different school systems each with multiple schools in it. No matter what your degree is, or what you prefer to work in, there will be many opportunities for you to find a job. 

The competition in sports in Kingsport is fierce. In little league, parents will be arguing over a tee ball game or arguing with the ref over the littlest things. There was one incident at the softball fields of a physical fight breaking out between parents.  There are two middle schools, Robinson and Sevier, and they are each other’s rival. We have a large pep rally before the biggest game of the middle school football and basketball season. Even a few of the high schoolers come out to watch the Robinson versus Sevier game. Once students move onto high school the competition and school spirit become a lot more than it was in middle school. Dobyns-Bennett’s football team is a part of the 6A division while the rest of our sports on the 3A level. On the big rival game days, we will have all the students go to the dome for the last hour to watch the pep rally. Here we have the competitions between each grade to see who has the most school spirit. Ages two to eighty can be seen in the stands waiting to support their favorite team every Friday night.

Lastly, if you like to be outside and travel, Kingsport is the town for you. Just a quick fifteen-minute drive from downtown Kingsport is Warriors Path State Park. The park connects to the nearby lake allowing for people to go out on the boat to swim, fish, or just wade the water. As you start to get the park section, to the left of the road is a bridge that goes out to Duck Island, an area of wooded land with pavilions for parties and a basketball court, along with a track for people to walk or ride bikes around. There is a playground, an amphitheater, and many hiking trails. Along with the state park, there is a nature park as well. The parks name is Bays Mountains and is over three thousand acres. There is a planetarium that shows movies about Earth and the rest of the solar system. The park has habitats of the many native animals we have in our area, like the white tail deer, river otters, raccoons, and wolves. Kingsport is only about two hours from the Great Smokey Mountains. In the mountains, the cities of Gatlinburg and Pigeon forge can be found. In those cities are multiple outdoor attractions and places to stay. 

Whether you like your hometown or not, there are many reasons why it might be a good place to live. My hometown of Kingsport, Tennessee is the best place to live because of the job opportunities, competition in sports, and the number of things to do outside.
