Yes, children should learn a foreign language, due to The many cognitive benefits of learning languages are undeniable. People who speak more than one language have improved memory, Better academics,  problem-solving, critical-thinking skills, enhanced concentration, ability to multitask, and better listening skills.

The first reason that students should be required to speak another language is that it improves their memorization. Source 1 claims that “It helps them stimulate

their memory, as well.” Improved memorization can help children not only in school, but it can also help in their personal lives.   Source 1 supports this by explaining that

However people around the world are learning English, so US students shouldn't have to learn a foreign language. To summarize, why foreign language classes should not be a requirement Students rarely achieve proficiency even after several years of study, and the benefits of learning a foreign language in the US are limited. If taking a foreign language was not required, students would be able to pursue classes they want and the school would not have to waste money, and time. Although, Having students learn a foreign language has benefits it still wastes the school budget and time.
