Argumentative Essay: Why Humans Are Bad

The side  that will be argued in this essay is why humans are bad. The reason humans are bad is because they neglect and leave their dogs on the side of the street. This shows that society has a serious problem with neglect because we see homeless dogs and homeless people on the streets every day. People everyday also do bad acts like bullying and hazing people. They think it's funny and amusing, but in reality it's cruel and hurtful. They find the need to bully others because they might have experienced being bullied in the past. For bullies bullying is a stress reliever and way to feel like they are in control.   People that leave their dogs on the side of the street are not committed to having a pet.while bullying and abandoning dogs are not the same thing they both point to issues in humans. People who bully others and people who leave dogs on the streets both show they don't care for others. Both of these issues point to larger problems of neglect 

All humans are good because humans do good things to help each other out. For example, people care about the homeless. There are many charities dedicated to helping homeless people, such as Dress for Success, where they “provide a free suit for low income women to use for a job interview.” The same company also states that if the women they help get a job, they can return and get a free work outfit (Thompson).  This makes humans good because people are helping the homeless get the clothing that they need to help them get out of their situation and get back on track to get a normal life again. Even though we help them, we do not have to help them get back on track. We can just leave them there, but we choose to help them. 

While humans  can be good they have done more bad things such as harm to animals. For example, many people drop their dogs on the side of the road and  let them die. They also don't care about homeless people that need help.  The PCTA article states that there are 70 million homeless dogs in the US. The covid 19 pandemic has made people leave more dogs to be on the street. Many people have got new dogs during this pandemic because they had time on their hands and thought it would be fun. In reality it is a lot of work. This caused a lot of people to abandon their dogs. when people leave their dogs on the side of the road that just goes to show you that people buy dogs but then realize that they are not capable of keeping a dog.  That is why they throw the dogs to the side of the road to die.  People figure out that it is hard to take care of a dog because dogs are expensive. Owning an animal and not having enough money can be  irresponsible and harmful to the animal.Also you need to be able to have time for them. For example if I go out of town my dog will start digging and try to get out of the house because she is bored and she needs something to do.  That’s why when  my family and I go out of town , we have a family member come stay over at our house.This way my dog has someone there with her so she doesn't get bored and have the urge to dig holes. Outside of my family other people put their dogs in a dog hotel, however not everyone can do that because it may be too expensive. Even though there are humans that care for dogs and do what they can to help, there are still many dogs that have been abandoned. This shows why humans are bad because they don’t care for other lives. 

Although people can be nice they can turn their back on the people they love and trust.. By betraying one another, humans can make others not trust them and make themselves look bad and ruin their reputation. For example, in the play Antigone Antigone goes to her sister for help, but her sister rejects her. Antigone ends up  calling her sister a traitor (pg#2 line number 27 find this in a book) . Because her sister bretrade her, this proves that humans are bad, because it shows how people are capable of stabbing others in the back which  makes us unreliable . Not only can we betray our friends we can also betray our family. This will eventually lead to family problems and having your family not trust you. 

Another reason people are bad  is because they bully others. By bullying others it makes the person getting bullied  feel depressed , sad and  make them feel hurt. Since the kids get depressed  it can lead them to withdrawing from family and friends, not participating in the activities they used to love doing, getting bad grades in school, and exhibiting behavioral issues at school. Teens getting bullied have higher chances of getting depressed and committing suicide. Even though people know the severe side effects of bullying they still choose to do it. By choosing to bully other people, they make a choice to be toxic and make others hurt for kicks and giggles.  For example on pg#11, it says  “Ralph shrieked with laughter” when Piggy says that the kids used to call him piggy in school. Even though Piggy asked Ralph to not call him that, Ralph still laughed at him and did. Piggy obviously was hurt by this name but Ralph still chooses to call him that. This shows that people are bad because even though Ralph had the chance to do something better he did not.    For  an example on pg#41  in lord of the flies  “my specs give me my specs” the reason this is a form of bullying  is because  piggy asked for his specs back but  ralph didn't give it back the reason why this makes humans bad is because even though piggy asked for his glasses  back  ralph didn't care and didn't give piggy his specs back.

In conclusion people are bad because when they have an opportunity to change for the better they don't take it. For example people neglect dogs and homeless people and they also bully people. Some people are still good because they rescue the dogs. But over all the fact that there are dogs on the side of the road it shows that people rather not help the dogs get off the streets. This is important because dogs are living things and deserve to have a home. While it's not possible to automatically fix humans and make them better there are ways that people can care for dogs better. Society needs more people to foster dogs. The government or other organizations could create other  benefits for people who foster dogs.This would encourage more people to foster dogs who don't have homes. Even Though it is hard to make people better there are ways we can make them improve. For example if people learn how to cooperate better as a little kid it would help them today. In Lord of the Flies the kids did not know how to cooperate which led to a disastrous ending. Even though this book is not a true story it still shows how bad people can be. Honesty and respect go a long way. While people are often bad individuals can take responsibility for their own actions and work to make the world better for others.
