Have you ever scrolled through your TV or flicked through your Sunday Newspaper, seen a celebrity, and thought - How on earth did you get to be so famous? We have all been there, let's be honest. Bing! Bang! Bosh! Scratch your head and open your eyes, as society welcomes the most sought after, 4-lettered word for decades - Fame! The epitome of Childhood dreams, wishful thinking, and World recognition! Fame is rapidly becoming the catalyst for change (although not always positively) across the entire world, with extraordinary acts being done, all over the globe, in an attempt to have a chance at the immortality of fame. Fame is what so many crave but, only a mere few actually reach. I have had my fair share of aspirations about fame, and I am sure you have too. However, only a select few possess the extraordinary components needed to acquire the status known of Famous.

The honour of fame deserves to be allotted to those who put in unprecedented amounts of work to ensure their skill, determination, and courage do not go to waste. Moreover, with this in mind, I am here to elucidate my belief that those who are famous and in possession of the status of fame through sensational skill, courage, and determination deserve this recognition. It has to be said that those who are famous possess an ability that seems to distinguish them from the rest of us; perhaps it is that killer instinct, the ability to take that death-defying risk, or the will to carry on when the chips are down. Whatever the case may be, no matter how unworthy they may seem, their attributes show us that these individuals deserve their place at the top of society. This is evident for all to see as generational talents continue to reveal their willingness, to drive themselves through trials and tribulations as they focus on bettering themselves through their intrinsic motivation to achieve their goals. As an example, to the rest of us, these people deserve to be celebrated, not just locally, but nationally, and even internationally, in some cases.

Quite frankly, many of us have the talent and skill required to be successful, but we cannot achieve our goals because we lack that undeterred drive to make it. That undeterred drive that those with extraordinary skill eagerly look to build on and channel into something better with each passing day. If you possess a unique talent or skill and are working hard to achieve your goals, would you not want to be appreciated and acknowledged for your work? The only life worth living is a life with no regrets. You and I only have one shot at this life, so why not make the most of what we have been given? I acknowledge that there may be easier routes to fame - TikTok and that not everyone has extraordinary talent or skill, but through hard work and dedication, we can achieve our goals. Throughout our life, we are encouraged to believe in ourselves and find that inner fire to succeed and that through hard work, anything is possible. Unfortunately, that is not how the 21st Century views things anymore, as it could be argued that we are shifting towards a world of Plastic Surgery and the idea that beauty can get you to a Celebrity Status. This is not the right way to go about things at all!!

On the other hand, it is often argued that being beautiful is something to be celebrated, and you may be inclined to acknowledge this view. After all, you are entitled to your own opinion. However, contrary to the popular opinion, I find this quite ludicrous, given that those who are deemed to be naturally beautiful did not have a say in its original appearance. Why are we indoctrinating people with the idea that beauty is of paramount importance? After all, you would not buy a book with no pages, so why are we commending someone for a beauty they had no hand in forming? Beauty is simply down to genetic luck, and this is not something that should be headlining huge newspapers such as The Sun routinely, whereas there is a crop of educational talent waiting for a chance that beauty cannot equate to. Regrettably, this provides an insight as our Society transitions into a bizarre place where beauty and infamous reputations are regarded more than original skill, determination, and courage.

Moreover, by promoting a society where reality shows based on beauty: Love Island, Keeping up with The Kardashians, and The Bachelor, just to name a few, are becoming a more prominent feature of day-to-day life, is leading people today from the path of greatness through hard work and education, and instead choosing to spiral them down the impossible route of beauty, being a modern substitute for success. This is not the right way to go about things at all!! According to a recent survey, statistics suggested that 64% of students felt disengaged with their education due to insecurities about how they looked (The University of Birmingham). Instead of inspiring the next generation of remarkably skilful, determined, and talented students, we are slowly smothering them like a Snake, with the pressure of being beautiful, draining, and stifling their potential with the poisoned venom of artificial make-believe beauty.

I've got three words for you. The American Dream. Words that are so small but have such strength and power. Here's why. When you think about it, The American Dream has always been the mold of life that a person should strive for. An example of how a person can go from having nothing to being wealthy and obtaining fame through hard work, dedication, and skill. In spite of this, the modern age of technology seems intent on spreading as much information as possible with its constant spawning of ideas that connect people with the ever-dynamic Internet. This has propelled some people straight to the very top through more unconventional means. From uploading yourself playing video games to make-up tutorials online, people are finding a myriad of different ways to either take advantage or create cultural phenomena. Nevertheless, we are living in a world in which general acts of stupidity have been incomprehensibly rewarded in recent times, despite their cultural ramifications.

Overall, I firmly believe that people who are willing to show doggedness and grit to go with their skills are more deserving of praise and recognition than those who are over-reliant on beauty and notorious doings. However, time waits for no man, with many willing to do vexatious deeds to secure their shot at becoming famous, and while that does not discredit their status, in any way, shape, or form, I do not believe that this is the right way to go about things.

Although thinking about it now, don't be surprised in the slightest, not if but when you see me punch a one-way ticket to fame on the next edition of Love Island!!

In all seriousness, if we don't change our lazy and obnoxious views and take control of fame, then it should come as no surprise to you in the future, in this age of great technological advancement and our current downward trajectory, when we are likely to become slaves under the rule of the most sought after 4-lettered word in decades - Fame.
