Being Free and Taking A Chance Essay Example

To be safe is to be in the “comfort zone.” To be free is to let loose and not be held back. If the average man always wants to be safe, he will always live the same boring day over and over. In today’s world, many people “play it safe” and do what is comfortable to them, since the change is frightening. Being free and taking a chance, gives a different perspective to which the average man would never know if he only wanted to be safe. 

In modern society, there are many things evolving and changing every day. Something that has evolved greatly over the years, is technology. Everywhere there is always some form of it. Most of the older generations grew up without technology so when being introduced to the new discoveries of it, they often rejected it because it was out of the norm. Not just the older generations rejected technology, but some of the newer ones rejected it as well because they thought of it as harmful and invasive. With the world’s current events, technology is one of the main reasons people have not gone into a major worldwide panic. Students can learn virtually without risking their life going to school and getting Covid-19. If people had rejected technology just because it was new and not something in their “comfort zone”, millions of people would be at risk because, with the new computers and phones, people can stay at home and stay safe. Because of people being free to new technology advancements, the world is in a better place than it would be if people had played safe. Being open-minded to new ideas is something that lets people be free and not be held back by one opinion that is controlling their life. 

Some might say that one can be safe and be “free” from any harm, but being safe harms one mind from not being free. If people are safe, they fear being hurt and what could possibly happen to them. They see less, know less, and learn less. Learning and growth comes from being hurt and making mistakes. Being free from growth is something very harmful.

The average man might want to be safe, but in reality, it is better for him to be free.  In today’s world, many people “play it safe” and do what is comfortable to them since change is frightening. Being free and taking a chance gives a different perspective to which the average man would never know if he only wanted to be safe. To grow as a human one must learn and move on, not stay in one place scared of what’s ahead of them.
