Braveness In Night By Elie Wiesel Essay Example

Never shall I forget those flames which consumed my faith forever. Never shall I forget that nocturnal silence which deprived me, for all eternity, of the desire to live (Wiesel 34). This quote from the book helps explain that this event was terrible and should have never happened but these are the moments that shape the character forever. In Night, Eliezer’s visit to the first concentration camp, and at the moment Eliezer survived the holocaust and was saved both these events helped evolve his character and how he is brave and courageous.

In Night, Eliezer’s visit to the first concentration camps helps explain his braveness. Eliezer experiences the camp by saying, “Jews, look! Look at the fire! Look at the flames!“(Wiesel 28). This piece of text evidence help explains that Eliezer arrives at the first camp and is faced to look at flames and this will eventually shape his character into being braver than ever. Another instance of them arriving is when these words are spoken, “Men to the left! Women to the right!“(Wiesel 29). This piece of text evidence shows that these eight words would shape their lives forever. At that moment Eliezer was not brave enough to be separated but he had to and these eight words will eventually lead to him being braver. This event of him going to the first camp will shape his braveness but this final event will be the key factor in him being brave and this event is him being saved by the Americans.

Another major event that helped shaped his character is when the Americans came and saved all of them. Elie Wiesel highlights his braveness when he says, ¨Ared men appeared from everywhere. Bursts of gunshots.¨(Wiesel 115). This piece of text evidence supports his braveness because after they have been bossed around but they had to stand there while a war was happening and that event should he being really brave. Another piece that highlights his braveness is when ¨Our first act as a free men was to throw ourselves onto the provisions.¨(Wiesel 115). This piece of text evidence highlights his braveness because after all of these events finally they were saved so the first thing they did he had to show braveness because it has been a while since he showed braveness. In conclusion, these two major events helped shaped the braveness of the character.

Eliezer's braveness was developed and involved when he encountered two events one being,  the visit to the first concentration camp, next event was when Eliezer survived the holocaust and the Americans saved them. The main points I made in my two paragraphs that were both of these major events helped evolved his braveness because he had to be brave when he first arrived and he had to be brave when he left the concentration camps. Eliezer was faced with many challenges but his character helped him be brave during hard times so that is what you should do even when you are scared or have a hard time be brave through that moment so you can move on with the rest of your life.
