Cancel culture is a big thing that affects modern day society. Many stars and online influencers have experienced being a target of canceled culture or have been canceled. This often happens when scandalous things go viral like when people express distasteful behavior to society. People can still express themselves to a certain extent that others will not hold them accountable for. Nevertheless many people can get canceled for either their words or actions whether it was in the past or present.

Artists are usually canceled for being careless or inconsiderate with their words. Sometimes they may or may not have meant what they said but their words may have caused a misunderstanding. Because they are famous on many platforms they have to be conscious and careful with their words. Whether they meant what they said or not, social media is always there to comment on something. An example for this would be DaBaby. DaBaby was canceled because of going to a homophobic rant and spreading misinformation regarding the topic of AIDS. Words are as sharp as swords. Either they clear up the misunderstanding while they can or the public may consider you canceled.

Behavior is also another way to get canceled out from society. There have been cases where people were falsely accused of doing something inappropriate. However that is not the case for when influencers or celebrities show inconsiderate or insensitive behavior in public an example would be Chrissy Teigen. Chrissy Teigen was cyber bullying a model in the dark however when the model spoke up things took a turn. Sometimes famous people would hide a thing or two but sometimes what they were hiding would come to light. At that point they may not have a chance to escape the sticky situation they are in. An example would be illegal or unjustified activities.

There are some cases in which influential people get into deep trouble. But some people may want a second chance in life and would try to rebuild their life. An example would be Shia LaBeouf who is considered canceled. He is an actor who has a record of drunk driving and is abusive. He is currently getting treated and in trial with previous charges against him. He tried to escape a lawsuit that was filed against him but in the end admitted everything and couldn’t escape. Even though most of his cases were from the past, many people dig up their past and try to find their flaws.

Cancel culture usually targets famous figures. Some of the people who fell into culture had to explain themselves to the public and there is no point in trying to escape. Social media can be a scary place especially for celebrities. Many truths and lies get discovered there and the public could cancel you out. Many people can get canceled for either their words or actions whether it was in the past or present. I personally think that canceling culture helps keep people in check. It has its advantages and disadvantages. It would be best to mind our words and behavior in front of others.
