Celebrities as Positive Role Models For Young People Persuasive Essay

Celebrities make good role models for teenagers. Many of them put their money towards good things that teenagers should be taught to support. They also advocate for important causes that concern young people and the world around us, as well as act as inspirations towards impressionable minds. 

There are many worthwhile causes that youth must be educated in and promote. Celebrities invest large amounts of their money in certain charities that favour these causes. Some examples of celebrities that donate their money to charities or people in need are Oprah Winfrey, Bill Gates, and Mark Zuckerberg. Oprah Winfrey regularly donates to Rise Against Hunger, a non-profit organization that distributes food across the world to people in need. Sometime in March 2020, Winfrey also donated $10 million to help ease the damage caused by the Coronavirus. Bill Gates has a foundation with his wife called The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation that donates billions of dollars each year to help prevent poverty and infectious diseases. Mark Zuckerberg, the creator of Facebook, donated $300 million to protect American democracy and political elections during the pandemic. 

They as well speak out about important issues that affect adolescents and society. There are many famous people who stand up for minority groups, such as Emma Watson, Lady Gaga, and Jane Goodall. Emma Watson is a great example of someone who has a good influence on impressionable teenagers because she stands up for the rights of women, as well as other organizations. She has inspired countless people to support causes that help save lives and restore basic human rights to people around the world. Lady Gaga is a big advocate for issues with mental health, such as anxiety and depression. Since these disorders are heavily evident in today’s youth, it’s important that they listen to celebrities who teach them what they are and how to prevent them. Jane Goodall is another great example of celebrities using their statuses to speak out about important issues, as she is a large supporter of environmental wellness, which is something many people now ignore. 

Finally, they also inspire young people by teaching determination, leadership, and dream-making because of how they obtained their celebrity statuses. Examples include Jim Carrey, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Jennifer Lopez. All three of these celebrities have come from poor or normal households and risen above many challenges in order to become who they are now. Jim Carrey came from a life of poverty and started doing stand-up comedy when he was as young as 15 years old. He had a very tough life, as he worked in a factory in order to support his family until he was finally able to make a life for himself doing what he loved to do. Leonardo DiCaprio grew up very poor and regularly saw crime in his small neighbourhood, and worked extremely hard to get to the place in acting that he is currently at. Jennifer Lopez often disagreed with her mother, telling her that she didn’t want to go to college and instead wanted to dance full-time. Lopez was often found homeless and sleeping on the floor in a dance studio when she fought with her mother. After many years of hard work, Lopez rose to fame and developed a very iconic place in modern society. Lopez continues to inspire today’s youth, more so young girls. These stories, along with countless others, teach young people that no matter where they come from, they can always make your dreams come true if you try hard enough. 

Celebrities have very big impacts on society, especially the youth of today's world. Many of them donate their money to worthy causes that teenagers should always be aware of and taught to endorse. They also advocate for important issues that affect young people and individuals around the world, as well as serve as role models for developing minds. For these reasons, celebrities serve as positive role models for young people.
