Chocolate in Cote D'ivoire Argumentative Essay Sample
Chocolate is not good for Cote d’Ivoire. They are cutting down trees,ruining the forest, and using child labor for the dangers to getting cocoa beans. People rely on this to keep them safe and get money.
Paragraph 1- When côte d’Ivoire cut down trees to the cocoa beans they're cutting down their oxygen and homes to many species. They are cutting down trees to make illegal cocoa farms which isn't the safest. Many species are in critical danger now because they can't hide from the seasons or predators. Lots of cocoa farmers are just taking private property and protected lands just to make a cocoa farm. It's making people not care about nature and like how bad it is to get rid of their oxygen source.
Paragraph 2- Most children go work on cocoa farms because they hear that they pay really well. These children are sold to traffickers or farmers and they don't even like to understand the dangers of that. Most of the kids that work on cocoa farms range from the ages of 5-16 year old. In the cocoa farms the children climb the long tall trees because the cocoa beans are usually at the top and there is always a risk for them to fall. They also use chainsaws to cut trees down and machetes to cut the cocoa beans out the tree and they could easily cut themselves.
Paragraph 3- Most people that live in Cote d’Ivoire are cocoa farmers because that's really the only good producing item there. What if one day Cote d'Ivoire just stopped producing cocoa beans and people would lose their jobs. With that their GDP will go down like crazy because people rely on these cocoa beans for their livelihood. People will suffer and probably won't be able to find new jobs to get money or they can't buy food and things needed to live.
Conclusion- I think they should stop producing chocolate in Cote d’Ivoire or find a way to try and stop using child labor, cutting the trees ruining the forests, and they should start producing something else than that cause that wont always last forever.
