In some societies, students are expected to choose a career by the time they enter high school. Their courses of study in high school are selected to guide them toward a specific career. Students choosing a career at a young age is a bad idea because they may not have a lot of experience with the career, and decide it’s not something that they want to do. Some students may not know what they are good at yet, with them being so young they don’t have enough time to find the right career. Other students may not be mature enough for the career that they choose. It’s not a good idea for students to choose a career at an early age because it’s too early to decide, they don’t know what skills they have, and they haven’t matured enough to make a decision.

Some students that choose a career at a young age, don’t have enough experience with the career they chose. Some students might have a hard time learning new material, without the proper teaching it could cause the students to fall behind in the course. It’s possible that the teacher was not giving them the help that they needed to learn the material. Some students may want to be a doctor, but the high school course might not give the students the hands on experience that they need for their career. If the students don’t get the experience they need, they will not be prepared when they have a real patient. Other students may want to be a veterinarian, but the high school course may not give you the experience of being around animals. If the students don’t practice with real animals, they will not know what to do when it’s actually time for them to help an animal. Without the proper experience the students will not be prepared to start their careers after high school.

Some students that choose a career at an early age, don’t really know what they are good at. Some students may need their whole high school to find out what they are truly good at. A student could choose engineering for their career, then over time they realized that they are really good at drawing and decide that they want to be a graphic designer. Another student may choose to be a pediatrician for their career, then realize that they like being around children and decide that they want to be a teacher. Both of the students switched careers, showing that some young students don’t really know what they are good at in the beginning.

Some students that choose a career at a young age, are not mature enough. Some students may just be too young, to process the material that they need for the career. A student could choose a career that requires a doctor’s degree, but the student gives up and stops at their bachelor’s degree because it’s too hard. If the student was mature enough, they would have had the mindset to keep going because they know that’s the career they want to pursue. If students choose a career that they are not mature enough for, it’s a good chance that they will give up.

Students that choose their career at a young age, don’t have enough experience, don’t know what they are capable of, or they are not mentally ready to pursue their careers. Some students may have a hard time learning the skills for their career, which will make them have a lack of experience. Other students do not know what skills they have, which can lead them to a career they are not good at. Some students are also not mature for their career, which can mentally break them down and cause them to give up. All in all, young students should not choose their career until they have finished high school and fully matured.
