Do you know about climate change? Have you noticed the damages caused by climate change? Have you ever thought about being an activist for the climate? Jamie Margolin has done these exact things. Jamie started at a very young age of 15, founding their youth climate action organization, Zero Hour. Jamie Margolin is an effective speaker because of how much attention they have brought to climate change, showed individuals the damages of climate change, and Jamie became a successful public speaker for climate change.

Climate change has made a lot of changes to the earth. There was two main ways that it has been affected. The first way is the weather and climate. Weather has always varied every second, although we have been experiencing an increase in annual precipitation with more severe rain events. For example, back in 2017, both warmer and wetter climates as well as warmer ocean temperatures have made Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria in the eastern states. At almost the same time in California there were wildfires from the warm and dry temperatures. As the number of extreme weather increases, it will only intensify the average global temperature. Greenhouses Gases have also done damage to the earth. Like every living thing, we depend on the energy from the sun to live. The sun amounts have been kept relatively the same for many years to keep the temperatures the same. If these greenhouse gases would start blocking off more and more energy, it would soon disrupt the balance. An example of the greenhouses effect is whenever you have a blanket on. On a cold night, you sleep under a blanket generating heat. If your blanket is too thick, it would trap too much heat which would cause you to get uncomfortable. This is almost the same thing happening with the earth and the greenhouse gases. (Armstrong, n.d.). Due to how fast the climate is changing, it will mostly have an impact on teens and children.

Various youth activists have begun speaking out against climate change and global warming. Different individuals under 25 have begun advocating out trying to slow climate change. In November of 2010, there was an annual Conference of Youth held in Universidad del Caribe in Cancun, Mexico. It was also known as COY6. This conference drew in 400 youth activists who were all from 40 different countries. During this convention, the group talked about various aspects of climate change. On day 2 they spoke about how climate change could start changing slower and slower if parents would participate in family planning. This convention came up with several catch phrases to help individuals listen to them. Some of these phrases were ‘Sex, Rights and Climate Change’ and ‘Sex Fate of the World is in Your Hands.’These various catch phrases were some of the first things that were seen by a reporter who was looking into the organization. The leader of the organization, Julie, started speaking about different new statistics about sea-level rise, annual average ton of emissions generated, and the lack of political will, mostly in the USA. These youth activists have tried to push through to politicians about how family planning will help stop climate change. It is something that will both work and we know women will be grateful for this decision. From women’s rights, saving the environment, and social justice it won’t be too costly to the government to enforce onto the public. Additionally, in an interview held in November of 2010, Gloria Steinem argued that overpopulation is one of the major causes of climate change. Allowing women to make their own personal decisions will definitely help woman’s rights as well as help out the harmful impacts on the environment.

Columbia Law Review comes from Columbia Law school which is also a very hard

school to get into. They are a very popular school to get into. The article talks about

different aspects of climate change. They mostly focus on how climate change is no

longer a debate, it has moved past that and is now a threat to the U.S. The new focus on

climate change provides a suggestion that the U.S. could be a major contributor to saving

the world from climate change.
