The ¨Cold War¨ was a Conflict between the USA and the former Allies The USSR that ran from around 1947 to 1991 although some historians say otherwise the strong majority say this was the start and ending date. Although it's called a war, it was not a war as no guns were fired and no battles were fought. Instead, Propaganda was used for fighting. This all began after WWII and when former Nazi Germany fell and was taken over by USA and allies and USSR. They ended up Splitting up Germany's capital Berlin, letting the USA make their side a free democracy side and the other side USSR communism. This led to the space race, threats to nuke each other, and lots of propaganda. The USA ended up winning the conflict when the Berlin wall fell in 1989 and the USSR was Resolved in 1991.

It was late summer of 1945 and WWII just ended, Nazi Germany was dissolved and taken over by the USA and USSR, however, all the countries involved in the war were in debt and sorrow after losing money and human lives during the last 6 years (as seen in document 1b). The United States and the Soviet Union led under the direction of Harry Truman and Joseph Stalin were coming out of the war as superpower countries and still good allies. This however will not last long as the USSR Will lose distrust in The United States and the United States was not a fan of the communism Regin Stalin had over former Russia and West Berlin (as seen in document 2) Although Both were trying to heal the world along with Britain's Churchill (as seen in Document 1A), they also wanted to be the top world power and would do anything it took to be in that status. The Cold War would officially begin in march of 1947. This was not an official war declared as Congress did not have a vote on it. The reasons cited to start it were to contain Communism and to stop Russia from swallowing more countries into their communist region ( as seen in document 4) but it also was to get to the top of the world power. These causes will Create a conflict that will last almost a whole lifetime.

This conflict will last for decades and many events will happen. 2 wars to prevent the spread of communism to both Korea and Vietnam (as seen in document 5) the results of the wars did not help as no one won Korea and the USA lost Vietnam. These wars lasted for almost half of the ¨Cold War¨ with Korea lasting from 1950  to 1953 and Vietnam lasting from 1955-to 1975. By the end of the war, the United States would have gone through 9 presidents, four Democrats, and five  Republicans. During the conflict, some of the events caused some of those presidents to lose reelection and some to have lower approval ratings. An example of this is John F Kennedy  and the Cuban Missile crisis, this caused his Approval to go down  (as shown in document 7B) USSR Built the Berlin Wall to split the sides and barricade the people of the now communist side of Berlin (as seen in Document 4) while the other side was free and mostly owned by the USA and Britain. In the 1960s the ¨Space Race¨ against the USA and The USSR. was to see who would get to the Moon First. In 1962 Former president John F Kennedy Announced in his rice moon speech that ¨we choose to go to the moon in this decade¨ (document 6B) although the USSR will get to the Moon first ( as seen in document 6A) , the United States was able to get there in the summer of 1969 with apollo 13. A great achievement  that could have happened  differently if the Conflict never happened.

It was 1989  and after  almost 30 years since being  erected   The Berlin Wall was  at last  knocked down  in a whole celebration. Berlin after 40 years  was finally one City.   Some Demolished parts of the wall were preserved and can be viewed at many places such as museums and even Theme parks.  In may of 1991 the USSR fell ending the war and splitting up those once  comunist countries  to be free again (as seen in document 10). Although the United States  did win the conflict the aftermath was not so great. Today  we are still living through  the effects  of the conflict.  Some of the dictator countries such as North Korea and Russia  are still testing out nukes  and have  leaders who are not big fans of the United States (as seen in document 9). The cold war lasted for 44 years and 9 months  affected many people and was started by greedy politicians  trying to get to the top.
