The lessons we take from obstacles we encounter can be fundamental to later success. Recount a time when you faced a challenge, setback, or failure. How did it affect you, and what did you learn from the experience?

This essay was a little difficult to write because of all the Heartache, disappointment, and stress I put my parents through last year. Imagine being on the honor roll getting A's and B's, being on the basketball and baseball team and you allow your friend to use your locker and he puts marijuana in there And you get in trouble for it, Can we say choose our friends wisely.

On November 5th, 2019 I was faced with a challenge and a setback which was a wake-up call for me to choose the people I call my friends wisely. Imagine having to fight to clear my name for something I didn't do all because the locker is registered to me. My parents ended up having to pay for a lawyer and my future was in the balance all because I didn't listen to my mother when she informed me numerous times to stop sharing my locker with people." they have their locker let them use theirs" She must have said this to me about a 1000 times. But you know us teenagers we think we know-it-all .you live and you learn right.

Through the whole process of trying to clear my name, I had to choose between being a snitch or an opp so they call it these days because I had my whole future ahead of me. All I ever wanted to do was get into a good college and play basketball. I cried to my mother and my stepfather because I felt like my future was over before it even started. I stated that no university is going to take me if I go to jail or if I get a criminal record. I didn’t know what to do.

I finally had to realize that I had to take responsibility and realize this is partially my fault because I didn't choose my friends wisely and I didn't listen. So at that point, I chose me, I chose to clear my name because I decided I'm still going to apply to the colleges I want, I will not let this obstacle stop me from being who I'm supposed to be. I love basketball and I plan to go above and beyond for my dreams. I'm going to let my Academics, High School GPA, Talents, Passions, Recommendation Letters, Test Scores, Volunteer and Work Experience speak for themselves. because I have what it takes and I have what the colleges are Looking For in a Successful Applicant.

This situation opened my eyes and made me realize that one, my mother is always right, and two your life can change in the blink of an eye for better or for worse so we all need to be more reasonable in the choices we make. When I graduate in June of 2021 I will be 17 years old and off into the real world pretty much alone because my parents can't come with me to college with that being said I have to make sure...
