In the 1960s believe it or not the United States Of America was in a dark place at that time because of segregation. African Americans were fighting for their rights so they could be treated equally as whites. Two of the leaders at the time were committed to fighting for them so their dreams could come true and their names were Martin Luther King Jr and Malcolm X these two leaders had different approaches towards the situation. Martin Luther king's jr s philosophy was to fight in silence and on the other hand, Malcolm X's philosophy was to fight against violence or in his words violence meets violence. But whose philosophy is more effective and most convenient? Well, I'm going to have to side with Martin Luther King's philosophy because it's the only reason why we are where we are today in a world where we don't get treated differently by the color of our skin.

But you may ask how Martin Luther King jr philosophy is better if he just stays protesting quietly. How does that even work? Well, this text evidence shows one of the reasons why Martin Luther King stuck by his philosophy “Basic to the philosophy of nonviolence is the refusal to cooperate with evil “(Document 6). This textual evidence shows how not taking action with violence would not have a good outcome. This supports why Martin Luther king jr philosophy is the right way to go because why attack people that already hate now they have a reason to use max force against you which in the worst-case scenario can lead to death. The following reading shows more facts on the topic “Violence may murder the murderer, but it doesn't murder. Violence may murder the liar, but it doesn't murder lie; it doesn't establish the truth”(document 8). This shows more reasoning behind Martin Luther jr s philosophy and how violence was never the answer back then. This is important to know because Martin Luther King jr changed the United States of America so much by just protesting quietly which is quite impressive. These are just some examples of why Martin Luther King was so successful and such a great leader during these times.

All this evidence shows that Martin Luther King Jr S philosophy was clearly effective and non-violence was needed. To add on more information “In the past six months simply by refusing to purchase products from companies which do not hire Negroes in meaningful numbers and in all job categories, the Ministers of Chicago under SCLC's Operation Breadbasket have increased the income of the Negro community by more than two million dollars annually”( document 6 ). This is Martin Luther King Jr telling the African American community what has been accomplished just by protesting non violently. This supports the idea of Martin Luther King Jr philosophy of nonviolent protests. This evidence supports the idea of Martin Luther King jr philosophy “This is nonviolence at its peak of power when it cuts into the profit margin of a business in order to bring about a more just distribution of jobs and opportunities for Negro wage earners and consumers”(document 6 ). This textual evidence supports the main idea of violence is not needed for change to happen. This is meaningful because this shows people that violence is not the answer. These were just some more slices of facts that support Martin Luther King Jr’s philosophy.

In conclusion, Martin Luther King Jr’s philosophy was a great inspiration across the United States Of America and changed how other countries view the United States Of America. Martin Luther King Jr is one of the greatest leaders in history like his inspiration was Mahatma Gandhi Martin Luther King jr got his philosophy. He will always be a big part of the United States Of America’s history. Violence never has a good outcome follow in the footsteps of  A great man named Martin Luther King Jr.
