Although the Dell Optiplex Micro 3080 and the Lenovo ThinkCentre M70q Tiny are comparable in size and both come intact with the Windows Pro 10 operating system, they do differ in price, along with hard drive size. I have had the opportunity to experience both in the business world, and they both have their good qualities. I will have to say while they are both little beasts, the Lenovo packs a little more of a powerful punch than the Dell. I think the Lenovo proves to be a little smoother on start up. However, the Dell Micro can hold its own, and has proven reliable. I can’t speak for reliability of the Lenovo, because I haven’t used them long enough to give an opinion on that, but I can say for the most part the Dell 3080 holds up pretty well. (Dell, 2021) and (Lenovo, 2021)

When comparing the two side by side, upon boot the Lenovo takes off without a bit of hesitation. Of course, we are not referring to a lear jet here, but the Dell is just a little slower in my experience. Although don’t get me wrong the Dell is reliable and will completely serve its purpose. Now if you are working on a lot of different files at once, the Lenovo works extremely well for the multi-tasker. You can multi-task with the Dell, but it just seems to me that it takes a little longer to respond when switching back and forth between multiple programs.

If cost is the biggest issue then when comparing the two, then this might help you decide, the Dell is a little lower in price. However, if you need that extra hard drive space with that faster than a rabbit speed you’re going to pay a few more dollars for the Lenovo. The Dell Optiplex 3080 Micro is 639.00, while the Lenovo ThinkCentre M70q Tiny is 707.00. Both prices are listed at the listed price, not customized according to customer requirements.  However, the price will change if you choose to make changes.  (Dell, 2021) and (Lenovo, 2021)

Now we will compare the specifics. Dell has, 10th Generation Intel® Core™ i5-10500T (6-Core, 12MB Cache, 2.3GHz to 3.8GHz, 35W), Windows 10 Pro 64 bit English, French, Spanish, 8GB, 1X8GB, DDR4 non-ECC Memory, M.2 128GB PCIe NVMe Class 35 Solid State Drive, Intel® 3165 802.11ac dual band 1x1 + Bluetooth 4.2 with Internal Antenna, and 3 Years Hardware Service with Onsite/In-Home Service After Remote Diagnosis. Lenovo has, 10th Generation Intel® Core™ i5-10400T Processor (2.00 GHz, up to 3.60 GHz with Turbo Boost, 6 Cores, 12 Threads, 12 MB Cache), Windows 10 Pro 64,8 GB DDR4 2667MHz, Integrated Intel® UHD Graphics 630, 256 GB PCIe SSD, Integrated Gigabit Ethernet Port, Intel® Wi-Fi 6 AX201 802.11AX (2 x 2) & Bluetooth® 5.1,USB and 1 Year on-site service warranty. Both come with a USB keyboard and mouse. (Dell & Lenovo, 2021)

It seems that if you are on a tight budget you cannot go wrong with the Dell Optiplex Micro 3080, but if you can splurge a little then maybe the Lenovo ThinkCentre M70q Tiny is right for you. PC Magazine gives the Lenovo a 4.0 an excellent rating. I couldn’t find any solid reviews on the Dell 3080 micro, but I can speak from experience of working with them for several years that they were reliable for me. I only worked with the Lenovo for approximately a year, but it seems that they are a very good quality machine also. Either one you choose I don’t think that you will be dissatisfied. You just have to decide is that extra hard drive space worth paying a little more for, and do you really need that much extra space. (Elliot, 2020)
