Life is similar to playing a sport: a never ending cycle of improving to strive and win. For a person to be successful, competing is necessary because nothing is ever given. Healthy competition motivates and allows for a feeling of accomplishment.

Ever wonder how famous CEOs become so successful? Take Jeffrey Immelt, a American business executive, who’s love for football brought him to his achievements. “Not every play works, not every situation works, but you’ve got to figure it out, and there is always a next play,” said Immelt. His culture of excellence that he learned in sports, provided him with a strong business ethic.

Failing at something is never fun, sometimes the only motivation one needs comes from the drive to accomplish. For example, Albert Einstein had to compete with his mentally handicapped disabilities. Einstein was so self driven he spent much of his life researching theories, which revolutionized our understanding of space, time, gravity, and the universe. If he had given up there is no telling where mankind would be today.

Competition is essential, because without it no one would ever feel as they were successful and there would never be the strive to be better. So compete as if there are no limits, because life is only as great as one makes it.
