Conflict Resolution Poem by Clephane Roberts

Have you ever wondered about the human ability to respond to conflict? We will be looking at how humans can respond once confronted with conflict, This can be shown through a poem titled “Conflict Resolution '' by Clephane Roberts and can also be seen through my personal life experiences. Humans have the ability to respond to and settle conflicts with their words.

In the poem “Conflict Resolution” we can see that humans have the ability to settle conflicts with our words. In the poem we will look at how conflict can be resolved/responded to with the use of words. This is an excerpt of the text in the poem “Say what you think...Then together decide on possible solutions''(line 19 to line 28). We can see that once confronted with conflict rather than arguing or becoming physical, the conflict is and can be resolved through the use of words by expressing feelings and coming up with possible solutions together. After Observing the text from the poem we can reach the conclusion that humans have the ability to respond to conflict with words, this can be shown through my personal experiences as well.

The idea that conflict can be responded to with the use of words can be shown in my own life. In my life I have come across many situations where I was faced with conflict, be it with a friend, student, teacher, or family, I will be discussing how a teacher responded to conflict with me through the use of words. Back in grade 8 my social studies teacher was concerned about me because I was barely hanging in the assignments that I had to complete. What I thought she would do was call my parents or have me go to the office and they decided a punishment for me but what she did was different, she called me to her class after everyone had left and she had me sit down with her. Together we discussed what was going on and we came up with possible solutions to fix the problem we had, in the end things worked out well and both of us were content. This is a great example of the human ability to respond to conflict with the use of words rather than the other negative approaches of responding to conflict. After seeing this example we can see that humans do in fact have the ability to respond to conflict with their words. 

Through the use of a poem and personal experiences we can see that humans have the ability to respond to and settle conflicts by using just their words. So next time you find yourself face to face with conflict ask yourself, Do I have the ability to respond to and resolve this conflict with my words?
