Within the websites that I have used to look into this, I have many answers to the questions that were asked. As I have said before, I live with mental health so I know some things, but I can not and will not speak for everyone. I will include my opinions when needed or if I do have something to say about a specific topic that relates to me. 

Mental health and memory are related by the memory storing the way you feel and so fourth. Within the article it states, “Memory keeps a record of what has made someone uneasy or upset, what undercut a person’s sense of self-worth, what brought extraordinary shock or pain.” However, the article does say that scientists and clinica have learned things that may have led them to believe that the memory can be a good thing and help with the recovery. 

The specific mental health conditions that are related to memory are depression, substance use disorders, and anxiety disorders have complex causes that differ substantially. 

Some of the specific ways stress and traumatic events affect our memory vary from person to person I believe. With stress the article says, “”Stressful situations (such as when someone narrowly avoids a threat) can result in strong future memories about the experience. But during a stressful event, remembering information can be more challenging than usual.” For me, I agree to an extent. When I worked at a gas station and had a customer come through that was a Sex offender and he would come in and try to follow me home or to pick my kids up it was terrifying. Then when I decided to confront him, he then threatened me and my childs life. It was so terrifying that I remember some things but I can not remember everything from that day. Then with stressful events like baby showers and birthday parties I tend to focus more on schedules and lists so that I dont forget things and I can make myself and everyone happy. With school, which is super stressful, I do forget about a lot of things but thats why I learned to take notes to help me. However, I get very bad when it comes to tests and I tend to freak out and then 90% of the time I fail. Therefore, that's why I agree to an extent. 

Some of the appropriate ways to deal with traumatic memories are to mainly go to therapy. The types of therapy are: “prolonged exposure (PE) therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy (EMDR).” 

Within the article it states that there are types of medications that can be used to deal with traumatic memories. The article states, “Scientists have investigated the possibility of using certain drugs, including the beta-blocker propranolol, to treat post-traumatic stress disorder.” However, the article further down does say that it can cause PTSD and they want to further the investigation. 

In conclusion, Memory and Mental health are related in many ways. Good and bad. There are ways to help and they may be a lot for us but if we want help then we need to take the time to ask.
