World War I was one of the most important events in world history because it influenced how we live today. Although many people believe that World War I couldn't be avoided because tensions were already rising; it is irrefutable that World War I could’ve been avoided by protecting Archduke Franz Ferdinand more and if Imperialism didn’t exist.

To begin with, one major factor that could have prevented Word War I is protecting Franz Ferdinand more. For example, when the Archduke was in a parade he was in an open top vehicle which caused him to be in the open and since many people hated him they planned to kill him that day. People had political objectives to kill the Archduke so when they had the chance to assassinate him they took it, they planted a bomb and waited with a gun till he went through that street but since the man missed his shots with his gun and the bomb missed and hit two of the officers they failed at their mission to kill the Archduke. After that happened the Archduke and his family decided to go visit the wounded officers but the assassinators took this chance to kill them and they succeeded which caused Austria’s allies to blame the Yugoslavian Government because they were the cause of the assassintion and this led the many countries to go into war. This proves that WWI would have been prevented if the Archduke had more protection.

To continue, the other major cause of WWI was imperialism. For instance, since many other countries wanted to expand and have control over more land this lead to many tensions between countries especially France and England because they had already expanded. These tensions led many countries to do irrational decisions just like Yugoslavia since they wanted to assassinate the Archduke so that it would break off the provinces south of Austria. Other nations eventually joined the war like Italy because they wanted to gain land. Many other countries either joined the war to gain land or spread their spheres of influence. This shows that WWI would have been prevented if Imperialism didn’t exist.

All in all, this evidence illustrates that WWI would have been prevented if the Archduke had more protection and if imperialism didn’t exist. Ultimately, the world would be a better place if everyone stayed safe and if everyone was happy with what they already have.
