In the novel “Cracked”, we are placed into the life of the main character Bull; a troubled teen suffering from abusive guardians. I am contacting as a worried teacher wanting to devise a plan to move Bull and all abused children out of perilous households. In the novel, Bull explained his day-to-day struggle living with abusive parents, "Not too bad. Most of his punches landed on my body but he did manage to split my left cheek. Which means more questions from adults at school,” (Walton 17).

Upon arriving Bull is maltreated and physically harmed by his alcoholic grandfather. However, he continues to hide what is occurring inside the walls of his house. Moreover, this is an extremely treacherous environment for Bull to live in due to his grandfather's reckless drinking, one day he could lash out, putting Bull in an irreversible state. As a result of the constant abuse Bull goes through, he projects negative energy towards others.

In efforts to help the children that are in abusive homes, I am contacting you to construct a plan for all children to live in healthy homes. I believe creating an anonymous helpline for kids to share their struggles with a professional would firstly boost morale and give kids much-needed guidance. In fact, the helpline would provide statistics of how many children are being abused in a certain community, which would bring more attention to this cause so that the children will get the help they need. Similarly, teachers, principals, and other staff need to ask students to communicate about their emotions. Ultimately, telling them that they are welcome to speak out about their problems.

Furthermore, help needs to be provided, but also a safe place where these hurt children can feel comforted and heard.
