Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc Admission Essay Sample

I aspire to be a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. in search of a sisterhood connection. Growing up, I was the little big sister everyone looked up to. I believe that joining Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. will provide me with the kind of support I require to become a distinguished black woman in today’s society, much like the women featured in the novel “In Search for Sisterhood.” I want to join this organization to become part of a sisterhood filled with women dedicated to bringing change in their everyday interactions. 

Education has always been a huge aspect of my life because, much like the sorority, I believe it is the key to a better tomorrow. For this reason, I have always put my best foot forward in my studies, having a cumulative GPA of 3.6. I am currently pursuing an undergraduate certificate in Health Management and am already CPR/AED/FIRST AID certified. Under the sorority’s education development section from the five programmatic thrusts, I hope to be provided with the right tools to achieve my future educational and career goals that involve pursuing an MPH and working for the federal government.

In addition, public service is also important to me because I believe in giving back to the community in any way possible. Thus, when I am not studying, I am a Blood Donor Ambassador with the American Red Cross. Volunteering with that organization gives me a chance to participate in physical and mental health programs aimed at helping the less fortunate achieve a wholesome life. The skills I have gathered under this program will be valuable under the sorority’s physical and mental health section from the five programmatic thrusts, which encourage women to lead a healthy lifestyle for a healthy mind, body, and spirit.

I also help homeless individuals with clothing, food and connect some to homeless shelters. I once experienced homelessness and can relate to the challenges they face. Other social issues that interest me are poverty and climate change. In line with the sorority’s economic development section from the five programmatic thrusts, I am a career ambassador with the university, during which I help students attend career fairs in search of jobs or potential internships.

I want to be a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. because it will provide me with the right tools and support to be a phenomenal woman. By being an outstanding lady in my community associated with Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. I will inspire future generations by proving to them that with the right mindset and team, anything is possible.
