Iceland is a small Nordic island nation. It is home to the world's northernmost capital, Reykjavik. Iceland’s government is a social democracy. Despite its name, Iceland has warm and refreshing summers and mild winters. The Blue Lagoon and the Dettifoss Waterfall are two of Iceland’s natural beauties. There are numerous one of a kind things about Icelandic food, nature, and its nickname.

Iceland's cuisine is simple and showcases the harsh natural conditions that the country has faced for countless years. Iceland is known for its fresh and unique dishes. Many people around the world come to endeavor foods such as fermented shark and skyr yogurt. Another staple dish is lamb or mutton. The Icelandic people did not grow vegetables and fruits for countless years. Fermented, cured, salted, or smoked foods are common. Jello was even sometimes used to preserve food.
