Do you think you know if social media has made people more or less connected to each other? Well, studies prove social media has made people more connected to each other! Social media helps a lot of people talk to each other in real life because when they are on their phones and computers it's as if they are talking to each other but without seeing each other. If someone is not social and they start to use social media, it will help them gain the confidence to talk to people in person.

Did you know that there are more than 3 billion people or about 43% of the world population who own a smartphone? Another research has shown that 91 percent of smartphone owners use social media at least once every day. Also with the rise of the popularity of mobile devices social media use has become used everywhere. As social media becomes more in human’s lives, it helps people become more connected regardless of distance. In Sherry TED talk video about social media and people feel more or less connected, she says that the more people seek to be connected, the more isolated they will become. She says from her talk: “We slip into thinking that always being connected is going to make us feel less alone. But we're at risk because actually, it's the opposite that's true. If we're not able to be alone, we're going to be lonelier”. Meaning that if you use social media just to get attention and more friends will help you get more connected but you will also feel lonely because you have so many people to connect and talk to.
