Donald Trump As A Machiavellian Leader Essay Sample

One modern day leader that doesn't represent Machiavelli's ideas is Donald Trump. Machiavelli believes that leaders should lead with a temperate manner with prudence and humanity. Donald Trump on the other hand has done some pretty inhumane things such as proposing ending the 14th amendment, is against accepting Syrian refugees in the United States, and was against LGBTQ+ equality.

Trump proposed ending the 14th amendment which is granted citizenship to everybody born in the United States. Trump removing the 14th amendment would've decreased chances for a lot of parents that want their kids to have a better life. In my opinion the only reason why he didn't go through with it is because the whole thing was confusing. It would be confusing because what would happen to the mixed children. The amount of children that would've been illegal would of been about 33.8 million people.

Trump also denied accepting Syrian refugees that were fleeing from their Civil War. He had stopped accepting Syrian refugees because he thought there was only going to be a small amount being let in but because "we have our own problems" and there was more then a small amount of Syrian refugees being let in. After closing the borders, he decided to reopen them but only let the Syrians' with papers in.

One last example of Trump being inhumane is him being against LGBTQ+ rights. As soon as Trump was sworn into the office, he removed any mentions of LGBTQ+ people and their rights. He then put a hold on the protection for trans student rights. He also stated a ban on transgenders in the military. Lastly, he tried to quietly roll back programs and services for the LGBTQ+ community.

Some world leaders fall into the category of what Machiavelli believes a leader is and some don't. Donald Trump has done some inhumane things and probably only a few humane things but it is in the past and there is nothing we can do about it.
