A person gets behind a wheel while intoxicated and is putting people's lives at risk.

When a person consumes any amount of alcohol, it affects more parts of their body than they realize. If one is caught drinking and driving they may get pulled over and tested with a variety of different tests to let the officer know how much alcohol they have consumed. If the test is failed the person will either be charged with a “DUI’’ and will more than likely end up in prison or jail, depending on what they have consumed and who was involved with the incident. Therefore, When an artist gets behind the wheel while intoxicated, their art should no longer be accepted.

How Drunk Driving Accidents Affect Those Involved: Physically,Psychologically, and Emotionally. “It’s typical for people who drive with any amount of alcohol in their system to dismiss its effects and claim they can shake the buzz off with a strong cup of coffee or a cold shower. Alcohol, however, doesn’t work that way. It needs time to exit the body. If you insist on driving immediately after consuming alcohol, the likelihood of getting pulled over for a DUI or getting involved in a car crash will be high.”(Flanagan 1). This quote proves that getting in the car while intoxicated can lead to serious consequences and injuries to many people out driving.  “Alcohol is also a central nervous system depressant, meaning various automatic bodily processes are slowed following consumption. Additionally, the brain functions slow, and thinking, decision-making, and muscle coordination are impaired. Each of these aspects is vital to driving. Alcohol has compounding effects on the body, so increasing amounts in the circulatory system amplify its effects.” (Flanagan 1). This quote proves that when alcohol gets into your body system it causes nerve and brain malfunction and causes your reflexes and body to delay, which makes you lose control of your senses.

Learning From Amanda Bynes’s Struggles with Addiction and Mental Illness. “Amanda Bynes had a promising career as a child star with a lot of promise. What looked like bizarre behavior on Twitter and her series of arrests was just a cry for help for her mental health disorder. Bynes showed the world how with the use of the internet, we can see how mental illness can spiral you to go out of control but that there is always a light at the end of a tunnel when you get help.”(Schwab 1). This quote proves that even though she was a famous woman her head got to her and she made bad life decisions which caused her to hurt herself and many others around her. “One month later, Bynes admitted on Twitter that she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and manic depressive disorder. The National Institute of Mental Health says that drinking and using drugs can trigger depressed or manic moods in someone with bipolar disorder. Her tweets were sporadic posting selfies and announcing that she was to attend the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in Los Angeles fall semester.”(Schwab 1). This quote proves that while she was diagnosed with a bipolar disorder, she wasn’t in control of what her body told her to do, and her body had told her to drink and drugs which caused her to make poor life choices while that caused her to get into serious trouble.

Drinking And Driving (DUI). “The largest group at risk for drinking and driving are those who binge drink or are struggling with an alcohol use disorder (AUD). This means they consume a large amount of alcohol in a short period of time, putting them at risk for harmful side effects. It takes roughly 30 minutes to two hours for alcohol to be absorbed into your bloodstream.” This quote proves that when you become addicted to alcohol and are taking in big intakes of it, it’s more likely to make that person make even more bad decisions while behind the wheel. “Your brain controls how you judge certain circumstances. When operating a motorized vehicle, your judgment skills play an important role in how you make decisions. For instance, you need to be able to foresee potential problems and make clear decisions if another vehicle cuts you off. Your judgment helps you stay alert and aware of surrounding conditions while driving.” This quote proves that your brain controls what your body does and when a person puts alcohol into their system it slows down the nerves and slows down your thought process which can and could lead to many very serious complications with the people that you hurt and with officers.
