Emotive Language In Old Major's Speech (Animal Farm)

We are able to persuade others to make a change by using powerful words or phrases. One character from Animal Farm that proves this is when Old Major gives a huge speech to all of the animals about how their lives are so difficult and how they are slaves to all mankind. Old major really creates a dent in these animals' lives, they knew that when old major died, they had to carry out his plan and save themselves from all man. Old Major gave the animals hope for a better future, by saying powerful words like enemy, miserable, comrades, and ect. In The Teddy Bear Ted Talk, Jon Mooallem talks about how a story of how dramatically our ideas about nature can change, and how the stories we tell are dramatically changing nature. The way we saw animals back in the 90's have changed dramatically. For example, we saw bears are terrifying, vicious animals. But as we grew into life and reality, we now see bears as cuddly, cute, loving creatures. We just want to give bears a nice warm hug. In order for Jon Mooallem to persuade the audience into his argument, he uses powerful words like ¨Change, Nature, terrifying lords, and ect.

This is important to society because we get to learn from people and change our opinions about topics. We can read topics from the past and make our own opinions and thoughts about the topic. An example of making our own decisions by collecting facts and persuasion is voting. We gather all of the information that is presented from the debates to the press conferences and we get to make a decision about who we think is right for the job. Another example of society getting to make decisions is choosing what college major to pursue. People in society make up their minds to become a doctor, nurse, fire fighter, and ect. We decide what we want to be when we grow up by what we see on tv or what we see in real life. People don´t judge their life decisions by what their friends want to be in the future. I think that getting a choice in life is the most important thing to do because you get a choice and a voice. People in society try to persuade others to choose their side of the story and sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't, but we get the choice to decide that.
