Encounters with aliens or UFO sightings can be recorded back to ancient times, with similar accounts of these sightings being consistent throughout history. These encounters or sightings have taken place all over the world from many different people and especially became prominent in the mid-1900s when many people who have experienced encounters with aliens or seen UFOs started to come forward and tell their stories. Some more popular stories are the abductions of Betty and Barney Hill in 1961, the abduction of the lumberjack Travis Walton in 1975 , and the disappearance of Fredrick Valentich, a pilot, in 1978.

In an article written by Macro Margartigoff titled “The 9 Most Convincing Alien Abduction Stories in Modern History” , he explains the story of Betty and Barney Hill's abductions. In September of 1961, Betty and Barney Hill were on a trip to the White Mountains in New Hampshire. On the last night of the trip they left a diner at around 10 pm and expected to return home at around 2 am, and they set off. As they were driving Betty Hill noticed an unusually bright star, but after it started to move irregularly she was sure it was a UFO. Barney Hill was not convinced, and as the bright object started moving closer Barney Hill pulled the car over to investigate. He saw a bright pancake-like disk which caused him to rush back to his car and flee. Suddenly as they were driving off they started to feel extremely fatigued and both went unconscious, later waking up in their driveway two hours later with no memory of what happened. After the encounter, Betty Hill would have continuous nightmares about the incident so they went to a psychiatrist. The psychiatrist put them both under hypnosis, which brought out memories from both of them. Barney Hill said that he remembered himself and Betty Hill being taken into the UFO by creatures with slanted eyes and being experimented on. Betty Hill was able to recall and draw a map of the sky where they were at and with surprisingly great accuracy, which further proves their encounter.

A second prominent alien encounter story comes from Travis Walton and he retells his story to Joe Rogan during an interview. On the evening of November 5th 1975, Travis Walton was a lumberjack who had just finished working with his buddies and were leaving the forest to go home, and he mentioned that they were all “a little jacked up” after working. As they were heading up a road they all see a bright blue light up ahead of them in a clearing, and Travis jumps out to go investigate, ignoring the words of his friends. When he gets to the clearing he sees a “classic disk-shape” craft sitting in the middle of the clearing and says it was giving off a faint glow of golden hue that spread to all of the clearing. As he started to move closer, the UFO suddenly started to make a loud unexplainable sound which scared Travis and caused him to jump for a log that was in front of him for cover. Right as he was jumping to the log, the UFO “streaked” off into the air, leaving a huge shock wave that hit Travis behind. Travis woke up on a raised table and a dim light above him, and he felt extremely disoriented and was in immense pain. As he looked over he saw a small, big-eyed, hairless creature standing next to him which caused him to shove it, and then it fell over very easily. He rolled off the table in the other direction and the aliens came around the corner and started coming towards him, so he grabbed an object that was behind him and swung it around wildly while screaming. Travis was reported missing for 5 days and later showed up walking down a road, and his bizarre experience immediately became mainstream the moment he was found.

In another article written by Marco Margaritoff, he tells the story of Frederick Valentich, a pilot who went missing mid air while flying on October 21st, 1978.He was an experienced pilot who vanished into thin air during a routine practice flight. During his flight, he radioed in to inform that he was being followed by a large aircraft, and the flight service said that there were no other aircraft in his area, but Frederick still insisted that he was being followed by something. The flight service asked him to describe the aircraft, and Valentich said it had four bright lights and its movements are extremely fast and agile, and it had a shiny metallic exterior. The flight service wanted Valentich to explain the appearance of the aircraft again, but Valentich replied “it is hovering and it's not an aircraft.” Those were his last words, ending his five minute conversation with the flight service. The last thing the flight service heard through the radio was a scraping sound, and they assumed he crashed. When authorities went out to look for his wreckage nothing was ever found.

Betty and Barney Hill's story led the Air Force to launch Project Blue Book, which has been one of the main sources on aliens for believers since then. Travis Walton's story ended up turning into a movie and becoming one of the most popular alien abduction stories ever, and Frederick Valentichs disappearance is still unsolved to this day. The last thing people have heard about Fredericks Valentich disappearance is from an unknown farmer claiming he saw a UFO with a plane lodged into it the day after Frederick disappeared, but that is very unreliable. Alien stories have been happening since ancient times, and when they blew up during the mid 1900s, and even today, people have been suspecting the government of hiding these facts from them causing people to no longer trust in their government. While most people don't take alien stories very seriously, like me, it still has some effect on people on a larger scale and can affect the world if it's proven to be true. These stories could just be made up by some to get some attention, people were under the influence of a substance,  modern day technology was mistaken for a UFO, or these people were actually telling the truth. These things we will never know and it's up to you to decide if they're true.
