Tennis, over the years, has emerged into one of the most popular sports in the world. In just about everywhere you go, there are extreme die-hard tennis fans rooting for the most dynamic and mighty tennis player. Despite its popularity, the site where the sport is played is simple; it consists of a firm rectangular surface with a low fish-like net stretched across the center. These simple rectangular surfaces can be found anywhere across the globe. Particularly, the tennis courts in Wantagh Park stand out to me, as I experienced the crisp offshore breeze and views of the marina, which are walking distance away. The first argument to support the Wantagh parks tennis courts is that they are free. As a student, and member of the Wantagh varsity tennis team, I feel entitled to free exercise, and do not believe in having to pay money from a salary that I do not earn yet. As soon as people notice this expense, they may refuse to buy  a membership at these companies and as a result, Tennis could fail to attract new athletes. My mother experienced first hand the negative effects when she used the Sportime academy, a tennis center in which you can't enter a tennis court unless you pay a hefty amount of money. As a young adult, I believe that safety is important, and I know that the Wantagh Park tennis courts provide a safe place to practice to become a strong Wantagh Warrior. Knowing that the courts are located in Wantagh, luckily I found a website that allows us to track the Wantagh crime rates. “Wantagh, Ny Crime Rates.” states that Wantagh is Safer than 71% of the United States cities and that the number of violent crimes are less than 1 out of 1,000 people. When my family and I were playing at the tennis courts, my parents noticed that there were plenty of nice families enjoying the day at the park. Ever since my parents noticed this safety factor, they allowed me to practice tennis at Wantagh park. I have interviewed them so they could explain why they allow me to practice at the tennis courts. Mittel, Todd and Maria said, “We allow Kristen to practice at the Wantagh Park tennis courts because we believe that it is a safe environment, and the town takes good care of the tennis courts.” My parents brought up a good point, about the maintenance of the tennis courts. Recently, when I went to practice I saw that the lighting and gates are maintained. Not only does this factor contribute to its safety but it's not close to any main roads, so my parents do not have to worry about me getting hit by a car. Safety is about reducing and preventing injury and crime, it is about building strong, vibrant communities.

The old saying, “location, location, location” can be related to Wantagh Park's tennis courts, as these tennis courts are located on a marina. The breeze and fresh air from the marina make me feel less stressed when I am playing tennis. Wantagh parks tennis courts are also walking distance from the Wantagh community. Rachel, my tennis opponent and I believe that our walk is a rather brisk walk. As I interviewed her she explained how the site improves her well-being. L, Rachel says “I feel like I can concentrate better on tennis after our walk, and when we arrive at the tennis courts I can see the marina and it calms me down so I can get into the right mood to play tennis.” In fact, people who exercise near water have heart rates that are about 7 beats per minute less than those who use the same intensity of exercise further inland. Since most of us do not live on the water, we can still experience it by spending time at Wantagh parks tennis courts to enjoy the fresh air, sunshine, calming sounds, and immune function boosts.  The article titled: “5 reasons why being near water benefits your health.” explain why it's important to be near water and how it benefits your health. Here it states, “Being near the water will not only lower the stress in your life, but it will also increase your immune system. Reducing stress means that your body has more potential to be healthy and vibrant”. To reduce my stress I practice at the Wantagh Park tennis courts. I wake up early in the morning to watch the sunrise and clouds that glow a light pink color, and appreciate how fortunate I am.

Despite this, many still argue that Wantagh Park tennis courts are inferior compared to other tennis courts for the following reasons. To support this, they claim that people would rather be located in the city where they play with a wider variety of people instead of practicing near a marina. Although this may seem convincing, it is not, because you will still need to pay money per hour. “Online Tennis Court Reservations.”, The official website of the New York City states that “Reservations cost $15 per court, per hour”. For individuals who choose to spend their money for tranquility, it is unwise to waste money due to high levels of inflation. “Not Saving? Athletes from different sports argue with my statement that advocates for  the safety of our tennis players. They often play hockey and Rollerblade on the tennis courts, but it violates the law and causes an unsafe situation for tennis players. I understand their point of view, but these types of accidents should not happen because they are easily preventable. “Why Safety Matters.” states that “Accidents occur around us all the time and kill nearly 100,000 individuals annually”. Hopefully these individuals can reconsider their actions so tennis players  can continue to return home safely to their friends and family.

As the popularity of tennis grows, people will realize the true meaning behind the perfect tennis courts. Once more people realize this, They will practice at the Tennis courts in Wantagh park, because they understand that these courts will always provide a safe, free, healthy place to exercise. “The Hard Part of Tennis in New York? Finding an Open Court” teaches us that private courts may run up to $100 an hour, who wants to pay for that? Furthermore an article that examines Tennis safety, “What Are the Safety Precautions for Tennis?” discusses that Tennis safety precautions include playing on a safe court in a safe town. As we have heard and experienced, the Wantagh tennis courts are safe. An additional article that informs us on location and its effect, “Exploring how location affects mental health” states that “Psychologists realize that our surroundings can influence our moods and mental health.” Since the Wantagh tennis courts are near a marina, our mood is boosted. Tennis courts across the globe are pretty good, but are any of them like Wantagh Park tennis courts which stand out and highlight Wantagh?
