Since our country is prone to natural disasters and is surrounded by many subduction zones that can cause earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, landslides, typhoons, and tsunamis, we cannot prevent natural disasters from occurring; all we can do is manage risks. Due to a lack of understanding of the country's geographical situation, it is preferable to raise community awareness of the threats and impacts of all hazards and risks. Many organizations were established to serve as the foundation for initiatives and to help in the society's disaster preparedness.

DOST, also known as the Department of Science and Technology, is in charge of providing world-class scientific, technological, and innovative solutions that will boost productivity and help vulnerable areas improve. They have an associated project called "Maghanda" that aims to improve disaster risk alerts by providing a deeper understanding of warnings from frontline science agencies such as PAGASA and PHIVOLCS.The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) develop policies, plans, and programs to help local governments enhance local autonomy. The objectives of both organizations are to ensure public safety and develop local government capabilities in the event of disasters or emergencies. The Office of Civil Defense's Ready to Rebuild: Disaster Rehabilitation and Recovery Program was intended to assist national and local governments recover better and quicker from natural and human-caused catastrophes, even before they occur. NEDA (National Economic and Development Authority) is in charge of proper preparation for recovery operations and improving community resilience through enhanced structures.

Lastly, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) provides financial support to affected families in order to supplement their resources in order to acquire shelter materials for the construction or repair of their damaged homes.

The objectives and activities stated above are essential because failure to prepare for disasters will result in the loss of not only property but also lives. It also demonstrates that both officials and the community must actively participate in order for these plans to work and for people to achieve better disaster preparedness.
