Essay About: Selective Androgen Receptor Modulators (SARMs)

SARMs are a type of PED (Performance Enhancment Drug) that bodybuilders and powerlifters use. The reason that I chose to write about SARMs is because of their availability and widespread expansion in recent years. SARMs are really easy to buy online, and arent illegal when bought as a reasearch chemical. On the other hand, steroids are a lot harder to obtain since most are illegal and it is hard to get prescribed steroids such as TRT (Testosterone Replacement Therapy) and HGH (Human Growth Hormone). This is the main reason that SARMs are so wide spread with teenagers.

Finding a person with experience on SARMs as a teenager is not hard to find. There are plenty of people all over TikTok and Youtube that take SARMs and document their experience, which made finding sources particularly easy. My first source is a youtuber, that goes by the user name Aaron Robertson. He has made several videos of his SARM cycles and what he took. Robertson described his negative experience with SARMs and discouraged their use throughout his videos. He was only able to make minimal muscular gains throught his SARMs cycles, and lost the majority of it when he was off cycle. His natural testosterone levels were suppressed post cycle, even after he went through a post cycle therapy to recover from his testosterone drop. The type of SARMs he took and the negative side affects he endured inspired me to use that information in my story.

My second source that I used for my story is also another youtuber, that goes by the username Ryan Casey. Casey experienced some of the worst side affects that could appear with SARM usage. In the video where he explained his usage, he went into detail of the concequences of SARMs and of the danger of buying fake/wrong SARMs. He explained that you could receive SARMs that is not the one that its advertised to be, making it dangerous to take if you don’t know what type of SARM/steroid/prohormone you actually took. Different types of SARMs have different side affects and dangers. Taking a stronger one by accident or taking a prohormone desguised as a type of SARM could lead to testosterone shutdown. His main topic of discouragement was the fact that SARMs only came out 20 years ago and of the cancer risks. I intigrated the idea of buying fake SARMs, and of testorone shutdown, and of cancer-like symptoms to my story.
