As a dark spot of Charter with a stripped pledge of adequate rights, the issue of poverty sparks an emphasis on the social discrimination and more importantly, violence of equality rights as to the negligence and attentions to those lives in hardship. With an extreme lack of opportunities and resources, they are targeted in restraints to their potential and strength, consequent in powerlessness and exposed to a higher crisis of further social segregation of their position in society. Therefore, in my opinion, a priority and ensured access to equal rights should be applied in the Charter rights and placed in an advantageous position for the seek of a rather free space for them to stand up aside with the assistance of support and protection.

First and foremost, the limited space or opportunities for them to lift up evidence violence of equality rights for those in poverty, casts spotlight to a deeply rooted social issue as a result of the neglected public attention and political flaws existing inherently within the issue of unequal rights. This leads to further segregation and exclusion of all sorts of privileges, thus falling into an endless cycle of poverty, which can hardly reverse without assistance. In this case, people living in poverty do not receive the same opportunities and treatment as those growing up with well guaranteed well beings to reach their full potential, which instead, they are deprived of basic freedom by the manipulation of stagnant poverty. Also, mostly they are not allowed to progress while encumbering with overpowering discrimination, and an unsatisfying setting that underscores the shadowy hardship of their life and future. The deteriorated shell of poverty deepens their desperate struggles as the crisis of discriminated rights rises with an elongated gap. At the same time, the government’s failures to fix the political flaws of discrimination portend their continued destitution and delicacy while battling against harsh lives and most immensely, poverty. As above,  poverty is evidenced as a ground for discrimination in equality rights based on the unfair linkage to a widely impacted barrier which they can hardly overcome or control on their own.

On the other hand, as evidenced, poverty fuels a widely spread discrimination of their rights with inadequate access to public welfare and can be a hurdle to approach to the more inclusive society despite the physical written freedom within the law. While confronting a realization of the systematic oppression and firmly rooted unequal distribution of property, the basic concepts of discrimination frame the impoverished population in perpetual division in society. As evidenced, a resentment in job selection toward poor people refrains them from obtaining desirable jobs in an unbiased competition and the impacts are manifested throughout their life as disadvantages rising to the lack of opportunities, and the dignity confronting overwhelming stress of living. To alleviate the pressing oppression, this requires the government to include poverty as a ground for discrimination in equal rights and designate strategies to address the specific factors confining them from enjoying their equal rights.

From the factors above, poverty should be included as a ground for discrimination in equality rights in the Charter to liberate poverty restrains and facilitate an respected right ensured for all Canadians.
