The British Author Jane Austen is known famously for the novels she wrote in the 1800s. Some of her books being; Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, and Emma. Jane Austen still has a significant effect on today's society, because she was one of the few female writers in her time, she also introduced a new style of writing into the world. Jane Austen’s books have been translated into more than thirty-five different languages, and her books have also been made into Movies. Her books shined a light on the upper-middle-class citizens and their opinion on education.

Jane Austen impacted the world by introducing a new style of writing. A style of writing where the character did not have superpowers or was not a Queen. She introduced a new way authors can think about their characters' background stories. She used literary devices to show the daily life of a countryside citizen. Jane's characters were all normal people in a normal middle-class town, Jane proved that the characters did not have to be all that unique to make a good story come to life. One of her most famous novels is ``Pride and Prejudice, about a young girl living in the countryside that falls in love with a wealthy man. Jane wrote “Instead of entering the park she turned up the lane which led her father from the turnpike road. The park paling was still the boundary on one side, and she soon passed one of the gates into the ground.” (Austen15) This shows how her character Elizabeth is just a normal countryside girl with no special powers, just going on a walk-in in her neighborhood and it's just a normal morning. Jane also once said to her niece Fanny Knight “Anything is to be preferred or endured rather than marrying without affection.” This comes across in almost all of her novels she writes including Pride and Prejudice.

She also took a stand on women's rights. Jane was one of the few female authors of her time and she pushed for women's rights and to be equal to men. In her novels, women had the same rights as men and the same opportunities and were not inferior. Jane believed that women deserve equality and challenged the thought that unmarried women could not support themselves or their families. She believed in women and was a feminist before that was a word. Jane had a lot of words to say about this topic, such as “There are certainly not so many men of large fortune in the world, as there are pretty women to deserve them.” and “ Good-humored, unaffected girls, will not do for a man who has been used to sensible women.”  These words are more proof that Jane Austen cared about women and wanted women to be equal and have the same rights.

Overall Jane Austen was significant to British history and the world because she changed the way Authors thought about writing their characters, not everyone has to be special. She also pushed for women's rights and in her books, there were a lot of rights that women were not inferior to men. Jane had an impact by being different and not being just an ordinary writer like a lot of Authors are.
