Since the internet was created in 1983, people all over the world could easily communicate with each other, which enabled the Internet’s immense growth. The Computer Fraud and Abuse Act was authorized in 1986, establishing legal punishments against data theft, unauthorized network access, and other computer-related crimes. Just as Apple’s iPhone launched its foundation for modern smartphones in 2007, it forever changed the way people accessed the world’s information. This pointed to a new time of snooping as spies found alternative ways to monitor people through personal computers, increasing onto phones. (Washington Post) After billions of dollars get spent on computer security, the Internet seems to grow worse each year. 

Hackers at one time attacked only computers, but their liking for destruction went beyond to hacking government agencies and getting into people’s bank accounts to steal their money. The more devices using the Internet, the more arrivals there are for hackers, and the more difficult it becomes to maintain how the system works. Security researchers published a guide to hacking cars, not knowing that they were revealing deep flaws in the way electronics communicate with each other. Hackers have been disabling brakes, changing the GPS destination, and connecting to the vehicle’s mobile phone. As the community of online users grows, so do security threats. As of now, the world is strongly in the electronic age and small hacking groups exist in every corner of the internet. Hacktivists groups use their passion for certain beliefs to form an attack against a group that they disagree with. Other attackers are in it for the money. In most states across the USA, laws have been reformed in the past ten years to criminalize electronic harassment. Studies show that victims of cyberbullying are often the same people who are targeted by traditional bullying.
