The usage of computers and technology is so thoroughly embedded in the simplest of our daily tasks that most of the human population, including me, has become dependant upon these devices. So much so, that it seems nearly impossible to imagine a life without these gadgets despite the fact that just a decade ago, these held as much of an importance as any other ordinary comb.

Presently, the approximate number of users on the internet is close to 4.66 billion people and the number is only expected to grow as technologies get more involved in mundane tasks.

Artificial Intelligence is a rapidly growing branch of Computer Science with fast growing developments and a large number of students showing interest in the field.

It is common knowledge that Artificial Intelligence is the future of human technology. Humans will finally reach their dream of living in a society with robots being a norm.

However if artificial intelligence were to be the future of our present technologies and therefore, a vital part of our lives, what sort of impact will this have on our lives?

Artificial Intelligence is, much like our present computers, simply tools and the usage of tools is a primarily subjective issue. For instance, a hammer can be constructive while we build a table yet it is highly destructive when someone tries to break a window.

Thus the specific impact of AI in certain scenarios will be highly subjective and will depend on the person or organization that wields it.

Keeping that point aside, let's look at a broader, less specific impact of AI on humanity as a whole.

The introduction of robots into the workplace has already begun, announcing the beginning of the Robot Age of mankind. But what does this mean for mankind, as a whole?

Certainly, with the introduction of robots into society there will be changes. It is akin to releasing a brand new species, and luckily one we can understand.

Robots will bring a great change in the workplace. Decision making will be smarter and faster, efficiency of the tasks, no matter how mundane, will increase and the scope of tasks performed by one robot is certainly higher and the cost of it, cheaper than human employees.

This has happened in the Industrial Revolution before and it will happen again. Unemployment will be a raging complaint among employees who have lost their jobs to machines.
