Polar Express, which is my favorite book, brings back old memories. The first time I read it, which was with my mom in the library, was a special time for us.

I realized some of the things were different that the movie, which I had already seen. For example, some things were left out of the book like when the boy met the man on top of the train. But my favorite part of the book was the hot chocolate scene. The illustrations on the book cover and on the pages were interesting and made the story come to life. I liked using my imagination to pretend I was on the Polar Express. I think it would be adventurous to be on a magical train to the North Pole.

The characters, like the little boy in the blue robe, were interesting. He did not really believe in Christmas anymore. During a dream, he gets on the Polar Express. When he got on the train, he  tore a hole in his pocket. On the Polar Express the got hot chocolate, which is a musical scene, and the kids started having fun and ask for more hot chocolate. The girl, who is nice, saved hot chocolate for the little boy who said Christmas wasn't the same anymore. The trip on the Polar Express and the experience at the North Pole helped him start believing in the magic of Christmas again. He saw Santa's list of naughty and nice kids. Then he saw his own address! He also saw the elf factory where all the gifts were, and he actually fell in Santa's bag of gifts. They saw Santa on his sleigh and the boy with the blue robe noticed the bell. He picked it up, rang it and said, "I believe." Santa gave him the bell, which was the first gift of Christmas. As he got on the train to go back home, he saw that the conductor had punched :believe" on his ticket. The train took him home and the kids on the train wanted to see the bell. But he lost the bell out of the hole in his pocket. He was upset that he lost the gift Santa gave him. The next morning, which was Christmas morning, and he opened a box from Santa and guess what was in it? Yes, the bell. He rang it and he and his sisters heard it ring but his parents did not. But he was happy that he believed again. The magic of Christmas is real!

Going to the library with my mom and reading the Polar Express is a special memory. I plan to continue this tradition with my own children one day.
