Essay on The Impact of COVID-19 on Hawaii, Nation and The Entire World

COVID-19 is a virus that stared in late 2019 when a man ate a bat in a local Chinese market. After that, the virus started spreading throughout out China American tourist that were there got the virus and they came back with the virus to the US and it started spreading everywhere; It is still spreading to this day. COVID-19 changed not only Hawaii and the Nation but the entire world.     

Hawaii

Here in Hawaii, when COVID-19 hit, we saw a major loss in tourist because the US denied any incoming flights from any other contrary. First in a Time article about how Hawaii affected Hawaii it also talks about the loss in tourist."While the rules may have kept visitors from seeding new infection clusters, they have also devastated Hawaii’s tourism sector, which accounts for nearly a quarter of its economic activity."(Garza 7). This also affects how Hawaii makes their money. Second, When COVID-19 hit Hawaii, the cases were acute for the size of the state. Another quote from the article says, " Oahu, home to two-thirds of the state’s population. The island logged 119 recent cases on July 30; by mid-August, it was averaging over 200 a day." (Garza 2). This was scary at the time because COVID-19 could spread so easily and on the small island of Oahu it was possible for the entire island to catch it but then on March 23, 2020 the entire state of Hawaii went on lock down.

Nation

Just like Hawaii COVID-19 changed the nation too, many schools shut down across the nation in an article it says "With schools nationwide locked down amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the mental health consequences on students have come into a sharp focus." (Lesser 5) Not only is school shut down for kids, they have to make sure that he kids health are secure so they don't get sick. While kids are on lockdown with no social interactions, they become antisocial and get depression & anxiety. In the same article it says "pupils suddenly began “struggling with the social isolation, anxiety, fear of the future and depression.”(Lesser 21) With kids being like this, some may have the struggle to focus on school and not be able to get their work done.

The entire world

Moving on to how COVID-19 has affected the entire world as well. A way that it affected the world was the time it took for the vaccines to come out it that amount of time many people died because of it. In a New ELA article it says, "It's a very different story in poorer nations. As of March 4, people in over 80 countries have not even gotten one dose." (Lambert 2) Just some countries can not pay the high prices of the vaccines winch cause many people around the world to die.lastly another big reason it affected the entire world was the fact of the way we see COVID-19 how we will remember this crisis we are in right now, in an article it talks about the same thing it states "There is a sort of this overwhelming mass of information, but that information is not being captured in a way that’s going to be preserved,” Filene said. “And there’s also the possibility that it is so fragmentary that how much will it translate to somebody else five years from now or 25 or 50 years from now? We don’t just need a thing; we want the story that goes with the thing.”( Burnett 13) What she is saying is that even in the future this virus can still affect in some sort of way.

COVID-19 has affected not only Hawaii not only the nation but the entire world due to loss of jobs stock market depression anxiety anything could and will affect a person in this time.
